practice launchpad
what can I put on a concrete driveway to get better traction? I have been doing burnouts with a car tire ,, but it doesnt seem to build up enough rubber .... is there some kinda majic rubber adhesive that I can pur on the driveway to make it better ? I need to get my driveway to hook like the dragstrip so I can practice .... I might even put up a tree and 60' lights if I can get it to work :-)

VHT traction compound might help, but I think it needs rubber on the surface already to really work.
Gainesville Raceway used to drag the track with cut-up slicks, weighted down with big chunks of steel.
Great idea, I always wanted a 330' track in my backyard.

car tire as in car slick? its the high traction compounds that are going to lay down and make more traction. anything else is going to just leave nothing more than superficial skid marks.

not sure i can get a full 330 ... the driveway is only 600' long and shut down is kind scary when I push it ...
I was hoping I could get something that I could pour on the driveway to get a good base ,, then use vht . I have some tire compoud softer tha the illegal round track guys uses ,,, maybe I could dissolve some of the old slicks ....

Make sure that the driveway is VERY clean then apply a very light coat of VHT. Let is set for a little while then try a few rolling burnouts. Repeat as necessary. The idea of having a rolling burnt out competetion with a few good friends isn't a bad idea. The softer the tires they have the sooner you'll get your base laid down. Eventually you'll be out there scraping the starting area to get rid of some of the excess rubber! LOL
BTW: As for the distance of your test pad I'd use an old cave divers rule and only accelerate on 1/3 of available space. 1/3 for normal stops. 1/3 for in case! jes a thought.

You`ve got to get the build up of some rubber and a mix of traction compound....Look at a lot of the tracks starting lines.... Tracks love the drag slick cars going down the track after it`s been sprayed and dragged...The cars kinda burnish in the the compound plus lay down some rubber too....On your driveway you`ll need a lot of rubber layed down along with some type of traction compound too over and over and over....Make a launch, then move over and inch and do it again, ect.ect.ect. until you get a good wide patch laid down....It might take a few tires to get it to be worthy of a "launch pad".....Especially with street tires....If you had some slick cars or car tire drag bikes to do a few would be helpful....

i decided to try putting on a couple of gallons of Herculiner .... the rubber type of coaring for truck bed liners . For less than the cost of a tire I have a 40' strip 3 feet wide. If that holds up , I will lengthen it.
I am not sure you need to do a burnout to make the bike hook on this stuff.

Ingenuity Do you have a practice tree? Supposedly they can be set up for real world timing.
By the way, nice garage!

Look at all the wasted space between the edge of the Hurculiner and the road. And check out the trees past the garage. Time to get the tractor out and knock them out of the way. : )
Looks pretty cool Roy.

no , the epoxy base is smoother than the brushed surface on the concrete ... and the rubber that is mixed in is pretty soft. I have not tried the race bike yet , just giving it time to cure , but the stock bike has not been able to hurt it yet. I dont even know if I could do a dry burnout on this stuff .
