ZX11 transmission problem
I have a ZX11 6 speed in my ZRX and I believe I broke 4th gear last night. Any of you that used to race ZX11's find it neccessary to install the hardened billet gears?

Oooh,no way Ted....Thats a weird gear to break....I can see 2nd or 3rd,but not 4th,5th,or 6th....Did it shell the teeth or just break the gear???

Tearing into it tonight. On the stands I can put it in 4th and all feels good till a get to a certain spot and then it lets loose. Feels like I chunked a couple teeth. Seems like a weird gear to me also but why else would they make a hardened gear for both 2nd and 4th? Those are the only 2 hardened gears available. I was hoping for a bent fork but don't think I'm that lucky.

Broke a chunk right out of 4th on the output shaft.

Nope nothing got in there. In fact I was lucky that this chunk didn't get into the other gears. I noticed a little vibration after my last 2 runs in Orlando last week. Felt sort of like a dry kinked chain. That was probably when it cracked. One end shows evidence of being cracked straight through while the other end is a fresh break.

I lost 4th gear on my ZX10 at the beginning of the year. Mark Doucette suggested that the circlips were tweaked. You're lucky the cases are OK i guess.
BTW congrats on the 9.16 Ted, that's flying on a ZRX.

Coming from you Dean that means a lot! With a little better 60' it has 9.0's left in it. Think I'll have to spray it to get in the 8's.
