******************************************************************************************
from the organizers:
We are still moving along preparing for the fun September 2-day race weekend. As of now, we have confirmed that we WILL be able to leave all of our trailers/cars/equipment on the Grid at Taxiway Bravo for the entire weekend once you set up. The Airport has agreed to this, and we are paying for the extra security to watch over it all in the evenings. You will not be able to camp there or sleep overnight there, regretfully, but at least you can set up your “home base.”
The Airport has told us that they do not have an area where RVs can “dry camp” which means if you plan to stay in an RV or trailer, you will have to stay at the Mariah Inn & Suites back lot, or make other arrangements.
We will again be using the Mariah Inn & Suites for our Registration and Friday Tech Inspection, plus we will host the “welcome racers” finger-food meet & greet there on Friday night. This time, we will be using the larger Dining Room area for this, which should make things a little easier.
We are told that the Airport might POSSIBLY be doing some runway improvement while we are there, specifically, smoothing and recovering the concrete areas at each end of the runway. If they are, we have been assured that it will not affect our event. We at MKM have a few options here in adjusting our race course to make sure we do not get into any construction zones. We always knew they were going to do this, and it actually is a good thing for us, because once they are finished (almost certainly before the 2011 race season!) we can use the full 12,500-foot length of the runway for acceleration and slowdown. This opens up the possibility of 1 1/3 mile events for you El Mirage racers, gives us more flexibility, and, of course, more safety with a longer run-out for the ultra-fast guys.
We are definitely on for being able to select our run direction at the beginning of the weekend to take advantage of any wind, or, more importantly, to make sure we aren’t racing in the teeth of a headwind! We expect to see many, many more 200-mph-plus runs in September! If we run north-to-south this time, instead of south-to-north as we did in March, we will still operate from Taxiway Bravo. The only difference in switching directions is that you will drive down the parallel taxiway from the Grid and stage at the other end.
We will have a tentative weekend schedule posted on the website by next week, plus I will add a summary of the changes we have made to our program since the March event. Most of these are small adjustments, plus incorporating many suggestions we received from you guys to help us improve.
For those of you going to Speed Week next week, GOOD LUCK!! Be safe there, and let’s see some new speed records! Once you get back, wash off the salt and come out to Mojave for some more speed fun!
If anyone reading this wants to copy and repost it to their forums or car clubs, please feel free to do so, and use this link http://www.mojavemile.com to connect to the website.

Looks like the flooding of Cheese's shop put the kibosh on JC & Gary heading out to Mojave.
Dang it!
Also, California Bill won't be running.
Seems he has developed some arthritis in his knees and has lost his 2nd income for a while so he'll be a spectator at Mojave.
Dang it!

Tim basically taught Erv everything he knows (knew?)
TFA is DAMN lucky to have Tim coming to the event.
We'll reward him in the normal TFA manner; induce him to eat and drink to excess.

hey Jim,
yup, we are going down to Jay's openhouse at about 10:30 today.
APE has a lotta cool stuff so i'm wearing my pants with the biggest pockets.
Doesn't look like a lot of entrants, I hope there is a "next year" event.

Guess who showed up at tech with his filthy turbo Busa???
Yup, the ever "shy & retiring" John Noonan.
Seems he pried himself from the dust & dirt and is gonna get back into a lil bit of asphalt.
Good to see him and his bottomless supply of Mexican beer. :
tech and drivers meeting over, 1st passes start at 8am.
Nice to be going thru tech today rather than working, yes indeed.
Also, Brenda Sue & I had a GREAT time this morning touring APE with Jay and his wife, a true class act they are.

only 35-45 participants, this is good, could hot lap at the end of the day,
100F, 6000' DA, DAMN its hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wind is variable, 5-10mph on the nose or on the side, no tail at all.
John Noonan did a 251 pass when i was behind him in the grid.
GODDAMN can that guy get out of the hole.
Did a 211 off the trailer, then 212, then 211.9, I started to get used to the bike.
Then we got a bit more aggressive on my gearing (thanks Tim Chin) upped the shift point from 9k to 10, gave 'er more fuel and got a 215 at the hottest point of the day. YAY!
Tomorrow I'll up the shift point again, and with better temps, might be able to up that a bit.
This bike is a beast, 2nd gear traction issues
