quote: I had a problem with Falicon many years back, they fixed a crank for me, bought Falicon rods and had them install the rods while they still had the crank. Put the engine back together and the rods went out in about 10 miles. Called Falicon and they blamed me for not clearencing the rod correctly, when I informed them that "they" had installed the rod their next excuse was I waited to long to build the engine. After many disccussions with them about the problem they agreed to fix the crank for free. Sent it to them, they called and said the crank was cracked and I needed a new one. I asked for the crank back and they said they had thrown it away to save me the shipping cost? I've never dealt with them since.
Oh snap.....How crazy is that...You waited too long to build the motor..omg....10 miles, boy does that sound familiar...Hell, they even installed the bearings and rods.....Un freakin real man....I`m only a few towns away from Falicon so hopefully they won`t thow my crank out....
I just got done looking over all the parts, cases, and I found that one of the locating pins for the clutch shaft is buried into the cases now...below flush, so the cases are no good now I would think....Probably could be drilled out but I think its solid steal isn`t it....

I have heard of this from 4 other local racers here in Canada as well, and I have also heard of stroker cranks in quads and dirtbikes from Falicon with similar issues

I'd try to find something with lower miles, unless you are planning to have it rebuilt anyway.

I did a LOT of business with (Tom?) Falicon. He was honorable and did great work. He pioneered the motorcycle crank rebuilding/stroking business, but he sold the company about 8-9 years ago. The new guys were good for a while, and in fact, Brenda's crank is a Falicon and it's fine. But the "new guys are apparently not living up to the reputation that that built the company.
Happens too often.

I was thinking and I believe this guy/mech. probably knew this was going to be the outcome when he sent my crank there and this was going to be his "out" on my bike/motor as he already knew I was at my wits end already....
Thanks for your input Doug and all others....
His name is Fionbar McNulty if anyone has ever heard of him before,.... Perf. Eng. Prep.

Fubar McNutty:
I know this is not funny, but Fubar + Falicon = Fuckered everytime.
Falicon gave me the threw my crank away story. When I told them I'd take a new replacement they found it and sent it back. APE didn't find a crank in it and I sprayed that cracked stroker crank many times and it has not broke yet.

Yes, thats his name....He is from Ireland....But I think he knew what was going to happen when he sent it down there and this was gonna be his out from working on my motor.....Plus the fact he found that he didn`t install the trans on the locating pin right and pushed the pin all the way though the case to the top side and broke out a peice of case.....

Are you banging his wife or something?
Way to many mistakes for this to be a experienced builder.
cut your losses and send the parts to a real builder.
At this point it's not a standard rebuild, every part needs to be checked.
Maybe Doug or Karl could save this project, many will be scared to work behind him.

No ,I don`t think he has a woman....
But I did find a good bottom end for $400....I just opened up a couple of box`s that he put my motor parts in....OMG.....This is going to be a nightmare for me to sort out.....He completely dis assembled my motor.....If I knew someone close or someone that could put this thing together it would save me a piece of mind knowing it was done right......I just closed up the box`s and took a walk.....If someone is willing to tackle this let me know.......

Falicon is a 45 minute drive for me. I send my cranks all the way across the country to have the work done. I will never use Falicon after they screwed up 3 of my customer's cranks and tried to blame me.

stuart,
its a bit of a drive, but you could bring yr stuff to Sal down in Ft Lauderdale; he sure as shit knows his shit.
or
whate happened to Kevin Cadby was (is?) at Stock, Mild to Wild; they are(were?) mid Fla somewhere
like the Ninja 12 man says, its not a standard rebuild at this point. (and Gerard does know his shit).
No big deal, but everything does need to be checked.

Yes I`ve heard of Sal.and ALL good.....Kadby has gone down to MPS I believe....
I know this isn`t an ordinary build now but all is there just in a bunch of box`s....It`s one thing if I take something apart...I organize my parts as they come apart, keep all bolts with spcific part,ect.ect.ect.....
Thank you for your info,it is much appreciated.....

i dont remember if this is a stock motor or not. If it's stock IMO it's cheaper and quicker to buy a good running engine and part the old one.

Hey paul, man i hate to hear you havin such bad luck.....
if you aint up to doing a build yourself........, send it to someone with a good proven reputation......
I rebuilt a motor for a few hun , with new bearings, new rings, timing chain, etc....., in my garage......, and its still in the bike, and went 5.72 at 122....., on a dot tire.
I am about to start a build, but I gotta find a head....., I have a head, but its damaged.

Hey NOX...
Yes this has been one hell of a nightmare for me dealing with this guy....If I had taken this motor out and apart myself it would be a different story....But it`s in 5 box`s and all apart....He broke my cases, frigged up my crank,ect.ect.ect.....In another post you can see I found SAL at ACE PERFORMANCE will to tackle this job for a decent price....Here in FL.....Starting off with a whole different set of cases, crank, and rods...I found a complete bottomend on ebay....So it will be all his work and nothing from this other DICK.....My bike has been down for 6 months now, missed the whole racing season and half of last years too.....Maybe Sal at ACE PERF. can get me up and running for next year......Hell might be time to change to LSR,lol..... Is there much of a chassis change from one to the other I wonder......

Sorry to hear about all the bad stuff. Excellent on haveing Sal do the Job. Not much to change going to LSR stuff with it. Just toss the lowering straps, add a little saftey wire, and a metal chain guard.......................plus a couple extra sprokets and you'll be hooked!
