Gears
What is the best gears to run for the 1/4 mile. And is the angle of the chain have anything to do with the bike wheeling.

Can't offer you a recommendation on the best gear, can only tell you what I use. Stock wheelbase 16/44, 60" wheelbase 17/46, 63" wheelbase 17/47. I tend to believe too much gear is a bad thing on a 12R.

Chain angle doesn't matter...
We are running 17/51 gearing on John's bike...he weighs over 210 and runs 9.40s on his 6"-over, stock motor...
I've run 9.0s on his bike with this set-up

kcadby, you're saying chain angle doesn't matter. So the 17/51 gearing you're running has just as much chance of lifting the front wheel as say a 16/48 or an 18/54? I've heard the angle of the lifting arm between the front and back sprocket made a difference, but wasn't sure. Can you break it down a little bit for me?

I would point out that if you do run the 16 tooth countershaft sprocket, keep an eye on the chain and the swing arm wear pad. The small front countershaft sprockets tend to wear chains out faster and the chain runs on the pad a lot more and before you know it you are cutting the swing arm. Just some thoughts from a guy that has bought a couple of swing arms over the years!

Good point ZH....The drag guys out here also have a theory that the chain tends to jump teeth due to the small radius on a 16 when they hit the second stage NOS.

That would be a reasonable concern.

I have the video crew recording, when I study the video I can hear it, but launching I can hear it also. I have broken engine mounting bolts on the left side. The nuts snap off. This is duing lanuching. It's not easy getting low 1:50's 60 ft. You must twist the throttle and let the clutch GOOOOOOO
