02 limiter

Ok what does the limiter do on an 02? I am going into 6th in the 1/4 and the speedo is past 185, do to my gearing. The bike will not go passed 162 thur the traps. The bike is passed 195 on the speedo.

Get the Muzzys "Bonneville Box" for it.

I have seen 185 on GPS before the Muzzy box was installed. You can also try a speedo assembly from a 2000.

Will the yellow box do the same thing? That way the miles will not add up so fast!

AFAIK it doesn't change the rev limit only eliminates the speed limit of 186 mph, if you're geared to hit an indicated 186 then the bike thinks you're doing 186, and limits it somehow. This box is supposed to remedy that.

I installed the "Bonneville Box". Had it on for about 1500 miles on the street and about 20 passes, I have it plugged where I can take it on and off, but I'm pretty sure it never hit the rev-limiter with it on...but I could be wrong.

I had heard that it remores the rev limiter, I thought I read it one of the high speed Busa vs ZX12 test.

Nope....but at the time I was trying to make some "top speed runs" so removing the 186+ mph limiter was my main reason for the install. But I was also used to the rev-limiter taking me out at the track during my "concentration lapses" and that.. if I remember right did'nt happen. I had installed several modifications at once (Wayne's dry shot, 6"ext, gearing, shifter, etc) things just got a little confusing at first, but it is a cheap and easy install and can be back on in less then a min.

I'm not hitting the rev-limiter on the 1/4 mile but my speedometer is passed 186 & I'm in 6th. So without the box the bike's rev-limiter comes on before it should?
I read in the Big Dog wars on the 01 thats what happened to them so they unhooked the sppedometer and the bike ran 195 on the dyno. But it you unhook the cable to the cluster the tack and gages stop working to?

Just unhook the pickup sensor near the countershaft for the speedo. Keep the guages plugged in!

This could be the cheapest trick but then the fuel injection light will stay on, but does that matter?

TurboBlew, are you talking about the yellow wire that's going back to the ECU? Learned yesterday you don't want to cut the wire that's going to the odometer. see post 02 help
