Todd,
It is a Sunday only race. Karl went by himself. Nobody with him.

I just talked with Karl, he said it looks like the clocks might be reading low. He calculated his first pass should have been 204 or so and his slip said 199, Sals pass on Dales 12 showed 204 but his GPS showed 209.
He said the head / side winds are pretty tough.
Hopefully when they get done and settled in, someone will update us..........inquiring minds wat to know!

Thanks Ryan... man Karl sure proves that drive and gumption are bigger in Texas... phenomenal. And I agree Dan, Karl should be everyone's hero.... he's way up top on my list for sure (Congrats to Zack and the whole family btw).
Karl's outcome is very impressive to me, and not to take anthything away from Sal, but Karl is ten times the underdog in the same arena as Sal... so his results (as a one man band as well), stand out even all the more imo.
Shane, Dean made the trip but I believe had a small "ratio deficiency" hiccup that I'm sure he will promptly address.
Congrats on fastest speed of the meet Sal, you work hard at getting your results no doubt... well done.
Thanks again Ali, it's tough(sad) hearing about the timing lights if true... but we pays our monies and takes our lumps(timeslips) as they come no matter where we go I suppose. Timing Organizations put A LOT of time, money and backups into making sure they are the best they can be... hopefully this Event Organization will eventually do the same.
Congrats to all for making it to and from there safe, and getting the first runs of the year in somewhere other then on the street.

Full story, photos and videos of all bikes will be uploaded tonight.
Few things to clear the air..
The lights were 5mph down vs GPS. No big deal, it was the first time this organization had used timing lights so there's a little learning curve. Rome wasn't built in a day, but this event was leaps and bounds more organized than the initial event last october, and its only going to get better with the next event in March.
On a side note, Karl is NO underdog. To say such a thing belittles his efforts and accomplishments, imho. With 1427cc's, 239rwhp, vast knowledge and experience in building, tuning, and riding...and of course an extremely healthy budget.... Karl is a major force to be reckoned with in LSR. Aside from our Ace bikes, there's nobody that can touch him on an N/A kawasaki. His bike set a 222mph record at Loring...don't forget that.
In all reality, Karl is the best competition we could put our kawasaki's against, not just some underdog. Make no mistake, that man came to Miami with an agenda, there's no doubt in my mind he'll be back in the lab getting busy. He's just that kind of competitor, and that's why we all respect him as a competitor and not a huge underdog.

Phantom I took Todds post describing Karl a little bit different than you are making it sound. I think what Todd was saying about Karl is that he did not have near the support network nor the crew that Sal had. He pretty much is a one man band. Being part of TFA myself I would never describe Karl the way you were saying as an underdog nor do I think Todd would. Just my opinion I coould be wrong about Todd I guess.

How you doing Brenda... hope Texas is keeping you warmer then Virginia is me?
You've raced with Karl and read what I mean just fine, I wouldn't dare belittle him as there would never be a chance of fulfilling the dream of seeing our Barbies together then. ;-)
Karl's "underdog" status I mentioned(maybe inappropriattley?) was in respect to the real world testing, time building motors, full crew, years of racing every weekend, aerodynamics, etc that Sal has - nothing to be ashamed of on either side, it's exactly what both parties portray. I think that's cool when people show who they are and what they have available ---> some people you expect more from because of it, and some suprise you... that's all.
I guess i should of said Sal was the "overdog"? lol
Well, hope Karl and everyone had a good time, learned something new and walked away a little smarter... I believe that's some of the main reasons this started 100 years ago.
Todd
