fuel cell

like I mentioned in the headlights thread, Im putting a custom fuel cell in the battery compartment. Im also upgrading the NOS fuel pump to a Holley Blue with a regulator. this is what i have so far (the bubba brass fittings may get replaced if funding allows)

Im going to take it to my tig guy (really wish I had a tig, Santa you reading this??) to get it spotted, then Ill take off the tabs/rivits and get it finished.

Better not let you-know-who see those brass fittings or you'll be taking a trip to the woodshed for a spanking!!!

I would put one of those factory parts stickers on the fuel cell just to throw off the curious.

cardboard= easy to work with
5/16 SS lines without a tubing bender= PITA

the tank allmost didnt go in, I had to clearance it a bit. lost a few of the side "nubs" of the checker plate, and took off the sharp edge on the frame. tip for bending 1/8 aluminum, v groove the back with a zip cut blade. this way it bends where you tell it to. it lead to a few cracks, so ill get every bend tigged to make sure its leak proof. kinda sucks that the best looking part will only be visable when i need to top up C16

bubba brass fittings may just get painted black

as this project has progressed i decided to ditch the ss hard lines for fuel injection hose just incase there might be vibration issues. only problem I ran into was the tank is about 1/4 in too long, meaning i cant use the -16 cap, but rather a "low pro" steel jic cap i borrowed from dads stash of hydraulic fittings.... waiting on some more fittings(monday) and then its basically just wiring.

gotta give credit to Pierre for the excellent tig welding

scott the nhra rule book says a limit of rubber fuel line total length. something like 10 to 12"
and the amount of fuel you need is no ware near the holly blue pump. for space put the holley street pump on and no regulater will be needed. that pump is still over 100gph.plenty for a wet shot. more like plenty for a lot of wet shots. sup to you.
i know what you can do with the race pump. lol .
just remember the 90deg cast fittings on there are counter productive to flow.
a street pump will still work with those fittings though.

thanks, next up for fab work will be a tubbed undertail to get max wheel travel, Im going to drag the nuckle before the tire thinks about touching the tail. im waiting on parts/ pay checks first. I sent my stock swingarm to TCC as the one I have on the bike is limiting me to about 67 in wb I want to try 69-70 with the new shinko drag radial. next friday ill be ordering a 12 over tail. anyone want a 6 over tail with a cf step drag seat and 6-12 over arm?

Im not sure how long the factory rubber lines are, but im adding less than 5 feet for the wet kit. these lines are a lot better than the oem lines. rated at 250 psi

yeah, the big ass holley blue is over kill, but i dont want to run a non regulated pump(this one was free too). I dont like the 90s either, but they are greatly over sized, i dont think flow or volume will be a problem.... even if i doubled the jet sizes lol

the street pump is internally regulated no need for a regulator.
