I heard Garth on the 10R got mopped up by an Ace 12R over and over
Can anyone verify this? Heard it wasn't too long ago and no jockey on the n/a 12R either ...

No biggie, 1287 ACE streetbike, 220+lb street racer... Walked away from Garth. So goes the word on the street...
End of story.
I will say this though, the guy IS out there racing... Win or lose, he gets props for trying.
No shame in losing to a faster bike. That's racing.
As for the bottle, I have no clue if he was spraying, but it wouldn't shock me in the least bit. I believe he's still in the 170's (mph) N/A on his 998cc motor.. Can't be much faster than 185-188mph on the juice if his best ever was 194mph on the built 1050cc motor + a 40 shot (230+rwhp dyno'd, he posted it online).
Again, no biggie... Much props for stepping up to an Ace bike, bottle or no bottle.

Stock 10R vs. 1287, equal-sized riders?? Sounds like a suicide mission!
Nonetheless, a ballsy move.

Shane, he either didn't know it was a 1287 ... Or he figured he'd make up for displacement with spray.
I don't know if the motor is stock, but I highly doubt it. Garth ports his own heads, and builds his own engines. I wouldn't doubt if he had a thin gasket, degree'd cams, and headwork. I don't think a "builder" would leave the engine 100% untouched on his personal racebike... Especially on a motor swap, you'd be crazy to leave a stock motor alone when it's already on the floor.
But, this is all speculation... it could be stock. I just don't think he'd skimp out on 10-12rwhp that would cost him $100 and his time.

Might not be as ballsy of a move as it seems. If he did massage the stock engine and had the bottle... He might have thought it was "in the bag". His 10R is pretty light and the 12 is near full weight.
Power to weight was most likely in HIS favor even without the nitrous.

Mike, how do you think the #'s at his venue compare to Maxton numbers??
For example, with 3 passes total, I ran low 170's on Racheal's 03 1000...at 260 lbs. suited. Pipe, pc, and that's it. I know that I could now put an easy 5 mph on that. My 06 10R felt a lot stronger than her K3, though.
I'm no pro level guy, for sure. Just wondering...

Hard to tell, they don't run traditional 9/10th's rules of 3500rpm/25mph roll. They start anywhere between 60-80mph and don't always run the same distance.
I don't race like that, so I have no clue how it compares to a standing mile. I can say that you do pick up a couple mph in the mile vs the 9/10ths due to the extra distance and momentum generated from a standing start rather than slow roll. Add the cool dense maxton air into the mix and you get a little more speed vs our hot swamp air.
For example, I ran 198mph in the 9/10th's on my original 1287 set-up, then slammed the limiter hard at 200-201mph at around the 9/10 mile at Maxton 2 days later.... Running lean with no datalogger to dial in the A/F.
Oh yeah, at that event.... Maxton's lights were spot on with my GPS everytime. Within 0.2 - 0.5mph consistantly all weekend.

60-80 mph start? That's like a freeway roll-on basically. Hmmm....

Yeah, basically.
They call it the West Palm 9/10th's but it's much different than the traditional 9/10th's which is somewhat organized with rules and a clearly defined start and finish. West Palm is like the wild west palm, which is great for those making the initial transition from random highway racing.
Many street guys have difficulty initially with standing start or slow 25mph digs. Between wheelies, spinning, and snoozing on the hit... Entry level street racers don't fair too well.
There are a few really fast guys up there, along with quite a few locals running around with ACE PERFORMANCE on the side of their bikes these days.
Sal's working on a local's ZX14 streetbike now..... Stage 3 engine. Should be a BEAST!
Yes, it will be raced at the miami mile.

For a guy his size, it's not that unusual on mild 1000's like his 10R. Wrong bike for his body, should have kept the 12R and sold the 10R like Shane did.
Kinda like how you should sell that 12 and jump on a GSXR1000. You'd dominate with a massaged stock motor and 30 shot. I bet literbikes fit you like a glove!

I really like that 10R, but I knew I would never reach my speed goals on it. Maybe I'll get another one for the dragstrip one day.

Get much seat time on your beastly 12R lately? I'm itching to jump back on my new and improved 1287. Its basically a copy of yours and Dale's head. Mine was the first 1287 , so Sal went super conservative on the head. Now I'm current.
All I'm waiting on now is my bodywork. Having it painted Super Jet Black by Lamborghini of Miami. Should have it back this weekend.

I took the 12 out yesterday, finally tripped over 300 miles.
My riding is very rusty these days, it's been a long winter...

Yeah, I'm rusty myself... But it all comes back quickly. 5 or 6 passes and it shakes off.
