Are ther any rules as far as the age of your helmet for the texas mile? Mine is dated 05/03 but I bought it new in 07/06 will it be ok?

It probably needs to be Snell M2005 compliant. I don't think there are any Snell M2010 helmets available for purchase yet, although that new standard is pretty exciting...as helmet standards go. Your helmet is probably Snell M2000.

Yes. Most sanctioning bodies require both M2005 compliance and a helmet age of less than five years. Arai claims that the energy absorbing materials break down sufficiently after five years that the helmet needs replacement. Granted, they sell helmets...
If your helmet is M2000 compliant, then you'll probably need a new one in order to enter the event.

Both M2000 and M2005 are OK to run this event.
