Good thing you offered up food and gas, 'cause the alternative isn't very pleasant.

JimmyBWhite(just taking a wild guess at what your screenname means?),
It appears I can hook you up with a ride there and back if you give me a call at the shop (540-657-8481).
Ask for me and and say it's about Maxton or Loring he'll get me on the phone, or leave your number on the recorder if noone answers and I'll call you back first chance I get).

thanks man. i'll call you the first this saturday. i posted this late last night5 and haven't been able to check it since now, which is just after 8 pm.
working 2 jobs takes a good chunk of time outta my day!
the name..lol.. my name IS jim, and i am an avid musician. started off immersed in the technical blues that is Jimi Hendrix.. eventually graduated to metal, rock, neoclassical/shred.. haha.. good stuff.
but, i play lefty, am one pastey ass white boy, and have sort of a hendrixian tone when playing around.
and Dane.. you have no idea man.lol it's not too bad exactly where i'm at, but it doesn't take a long trip at all to end up in some questionable podunk area that even most white people are scared to go.
you'd have to sound like a country singer and be farm-boy big to fit in.
i'm from pittsburgh. these southern folk pick that right up!!

I'm more of a SRV and Albert King fan myself, although Jimi's version of Red House from Stockholm 1969 certainly has its merits. I gave up playing when my lack of talent and commitment merged with my discovery that blues is best appreciated while ingesting chilled, liquid CNS depressants. Tough to play any musical instrument while holding a glass in one hand unless you're a professional.

glasses are great for playing slide. i kinda suck (mainly because i don't practice..) but every great once in a while when playing a bar i'd walk around and pick up a beer bottle and play a lil slide with it. i love SRV man. he's one of my favorites. in the "metal" scene, i grew very very fond of Jason Becker and Paul Gilbert. getting ready to work on a gilbert pieced called "B.r.o" (or Bach rip-off). fun little classical based piece. pretty shreddy at the intro, but well composed and really not all that bad compared to trying to play some of his other stuff.. most of it is just unfathomable. sweep-tapping arpeggios is not one of my strongest points.
lots of uber talent out there.. i will probably never be any of them, sadly. but it's always fun to learn. been playin 11 years now. got probably (if new prices were added up...) close to 10K in equipment between the P.A. stuff, amps, guitars, effects, ect.

Ok, good talking to ya Jim. Sounds like you're all set and you'll be riding with the main guy that keeps everyone safe at Maxton in both cars and on bikes.
Since I've known him, he's totaled and wrecked well in excess of 25 or 30 cars and who knows how many motorcycles, as a matter of fact he's still in the middle of recovering from his latest wreck.
Soooo....
Good luck and enjoy the ride! ;-)
See you at the track,

Todd you and Debbie are so great for helping out Jim. And I am so glad there will be someone else there without a bike besides me. You two are really something, always willing to help out a fellow racer or inthusiest in any way you can. The first contact that I had with ya'll was when Debbie took the time to driop me a line on a thread here just to offer help in anything that I might need to be able to run at the texas mile. She blew me away with her kindness. In fact All of you race people especially the ones here at drag bike zone have renewed my faith in mankind. I have never in my life been a part of something so great with so many people willing to help you out. It has truely changed my life in a very big way. Thank you all. Right white hendrix? These people are such blessings huh!

Deb and I were just talking about this place a couple weeks ago (and we've been on a lot of sites like most of you of course), but this one (especially this particular forum of this site, I don't read the other ones here) seems to have less drama then most and more people with a lot of common sense and caring for each other.
LR.com has a tremendous amount knowledge (the good stuff is hidden in the people behind the scenes), SH.org has alot of experience (be it real or internet learned it is samari based), but the DBZ area here has a personal touch that we're glad to be an accepted part of on a more personal level (at least by some of you anyway - lol).
Brenda, Jimi (and everyone).. we all get what we put out and you sure haven't been offered anything from anyone that ya'll haven't earned and deserve from just being the kind of people you are.
Ok, that's all the giving a shit I can muster.... I play a hard ass in real life.
See you all in Bullwinkle country,
Todd

Mr. Hill, how will I ever get to meet you if you dont get out and about a bit. Did you ever think that maybe you dont have the energy because you have stopped doing the very things that once energized you? I have found that as I have gotten older I have started to water ski less and less because I just dont have the energy nor do I feel like going through the trouble. Then I realized that not going water skiing was making me feel much older and that was a real eye opener. I believe that to remain young .........even young at heart.........we must not let our lives be robbed by being to tired to do those very things that kept us young. Did that make sense? I know it did when I thought it. lol

"Dear Brenda",
WHen I stopped Road Racing in 1985 (Something I truly enjoyed), I slep for a year! I went to work and came home and went to bed. On the weekeknds I got out of bet to eat and back to bed. I was getting 18 to 24 hours of sleep a week and the rest of the time working on my bike and at work. The last race at Maxton I did not sleep but 4 to 5 hours a day for the last week and no sleep for the last 2 days which I took off of work to get everything ready to race>
I was so tired that I forgot to ARM the NOS System on 2 runs and then when I did Arm the system I upped the NOS but "FORGOT" to up the fuel and ate the engine Big time!
My next and "Closest "0" Birthday will be 70!! All I did last SUnday was to box a Foam Mattress that is 11 inch thich and put the 90 pound box into my van by myself, Wrap the Headers on my WIfe Mini Cooper "S", Remove and install a Jet Kit in her 250 Ninja All in 92 degrees of heat. Then I worked a little in Cleaning my Workshop.
I said all of this to say that as much as I love Motorcycles, they take more energy than I have to give "Right NOW". I am also working this hard so that when I get everything done, I can spend 10 to 12 hours on Sundays and 4 or 5 hours Saturday Night and Maybe 2 hours every other night for a few months to get my bike ready for Maxton in October. (Without Zapping the little extra Energy I really do have!
Here I am

Here I am with the Fast people on this board a few years ago at MIR so that other than meet in in the flesh you know everything!
