Orient Express Top Street Bike @ E-Town

Orient Express Top Street Bike Report
by: Rick Mazzola

On July 11, 2009 RacewayPark Englishtown, NJ presented This weeks Orient Express Top Street Bike Top Dog Double Payout Bounty points series race on this humid sunny day. 17 street bikes showed up looking to take home some cash, trophy and move up the points ladder. The #1 Qualifier was Ken Thiedemann for the 4nd race in a row on his ZX14 going 8.64 @ 163, collecting his $50 payout and trophy. 2nd. Is John Martin on his ZX10 with a 8.85 @ 153. 3rd. is Old School going 9.07 @ 150. 4th. Andy Spaziani 9.28 @ 151. 5th. Dre Shearn 9.35 @ 144. The top 5 reaction times of the day went to: John Martin .001, Ashon Dickerson .011, Scott Evans .022, Chachi Okeefe .029, Rick Mazzola .046.

First Round: Ken Thiedemann gets the #1 qualifier bye run. Scott Evans, John Martin, Chachi Okeefe go to the 2nd. Round by way of red lights. Vinny Cianci gets the win as Windsor Davis spun the tire. Cream Decker also spun as Old School takes the win. Joe Kelly broke out giving the win to Dre Shearn. Ashon gets the win over Andy Spaziani. Rick Mazzola passed Paul Giamella for the win.

Second Round: John Martin gets the bye. Ashon Dickerson gets to the finish line first before Vinny Cianci. Scott Evans puts a .022 on Dre Shearn for the win. Chachi Okeefe gets the win against Ken Thiedemann. Old School cuts an .067 to Rick Mazzola’s .066 and snuck in at the finish for the win.

Third Round: Old School gets the bye. Scott Evans breaks giving John Martin a free run to the semi final. Ashon Dickerson tree’d Chachi Okeefe for the win.

Forth Round: Ashon Dickerson gets the bye to the final. John Martin on his ZX10 dials 8.96 and sets up with Old School on his ZX14 dialing 9.10. The tree goes green as Old School lets his 14 bog just a little allowing John to pass him before the finish line taking the win. Congats to OldSchool for finishing up in this semi final collecting his TopDog double payout.

Final: Here we are in another Kawasaki final with Ashon Dickerson on his ZX9 dialing 9.88 staging with John Martin on his ZX10 dialing 8.95. Ashon left first with a .011 looking for the win as John’s all business .001 light helps get him past Ashon by the 1000’ rolling out of the gas then back in crossing the finish line first but broke out with a 8.915 giving the win to Ashon and his 9.888. Congrats to John Martin finishing runner up collecting his trophy and TopDog double payout for beating Old School. The Orient Express Top Street Bike Top Dog Bounty Race will be held on October 24th and will pay double payout to any racer that beats a “Top Dog” or remains a “Top Dog”. This race is open to all Top Street Bike racers. The winners of each Top Street Motorcycle event are considered the “Top Dogs”. If you beat a “Top Dog” in the first round, you are now the “Top Dog”. If you are a “Top Dog” and make it to the money rounds, the semi finals, your payout will be doubled. The title of “Top Dog” does not carry over past the first person that beats a “Top Dog”. In other words, if the person who beats a “Top Dog” loses, that winner is not a “Top Dog”.

The Orient Express Top Street Bike points series races of 2009 are held on Saturday mornings 9am: July 25…August 22, 29…October 24, 31…

The 1st. place Top Street Bike points leader as of August 29th, will join Team Raceway Park at the NHRA Division 1 Summit ET Finals at Maple Grove in September!

If you have any questions don’t hesitate to call the RacewayPark office 1-732-446-7800. Remember Top Street Bike is an all run class, everyone gets to compete! So, check out www.Racewaypark.com and www.Dragbike.com, www.Psychobike.com and www.Bikeland.org for the TSB stories. You gotta be in it to win it.

I lived in NJ for a couple of years...not too far from Englishtown...but I didn't drag race back then. Go figure.

How tight are the margins usually, Rick? ET vs dial?

Too bad Shane, it would be good to have you and Rachael in Top Street Bike...

Its an all run field with saturdays qualifying ETs were from 8.50 to 10.90...

It use to be a 32 run field and # 1 qualifier gets $50 and a plaque...

They changed it to an all run but kept the qualifier as that also gets you the bye in the 1st. if its an even field then #1 qualifier gets second round bye...

Interesting.......

Most places I have ever seen in a all run bracket do the bye by reaction time......, not the quickest bike.

Guess it promotes a quicker field......, to a point.
