Yo WH, last I checked you were still in Leesburg or something, right? I'm in Fairfax/Sterling so you aren't far. I'm thinking about Loring but am trying to pool resources and make this an economically viable option for me. Loring is end of July/Aug 1-2, if you are interested let me know. (703)969-0076.

tanks guys!! wouldn';t you know, i am eligble to get my license back on aug 1st!! haha.. thats a saturday so i'll probably have to get it monday the 3rd if i'm in town.. if i can play my cards right i might be able to get everything ready to go and have insurance and all lined up and everything so i can rock out the very first thing in august.
Ali, i'd love to go and i'll gladly contribute.. not sure if i'll be riding right at that time tho due to the timing, and i'm not sure how you planned to get there, but i'd love to go.. i'll give ya a ring and we'll see whats up.
as well, i'm actually in martinsburg, wv, but have alot of friends in winchester and we get people from leesburg at the shop all the time.. not a far trip at all!
Scott.. haha man, i cannot catch a break on my build.. had it not been for spending $2000 on fines and junk, it'd probably already be done. i bought a turbo on an impulse buy and because it had a killer price.. turns out it's got an A/R bigger than the TDO4-L i have! the mitsu has a .61 hotside.. this "M24" garrett has a .48 comp but a .63 hotside.
i got a T25, which i think will do well, but it's trash. just about every bit of it. the turbine housing has a crack from the scroll to the wastegate and the wheels are chewed up from the bearings going out of it. i never did get a T3 someone said they'd ship.. and another CAT turbo i have (some GT5021 or something like that) is so bad, i'm just going to make it into a lamp.
sadly, the TDO4L needs the shaft straightened and rebuilt, cuz i'd probably just use it for experimentation's sake.. the M24 is functioning.. i might break down and try it tho.. i don't think it will spool til about 8K tho.
i did get my bike running last saturday and rewired a bunch of stuff.. just getting it running and getting it road-ready will be the short term goal now. the turbo motor i will build is on the back burner for finances and boosting the motor thats in it now.. well, thats going to be a very low boost thing.. no more than 7 psi or so.
i am backfiring thru the carbs when cold so i think i need to do a valve adjustment as well.
always something!

thats why im sticking with nitrous. you had to go and speak greek again lol. im trying a new setup, motor is running strong, getting the clutch dialed in(had a couple set backs) next is spray time. much easier, but i will have a turbo bike someday...

long story short, if i can learn turbo systems, you DEFINITELY can.. you know a shitload more than i do..
i will gladly post up some formulas n stuff when i'm not so pissed and paranoid i'll lose it mysteriously again for ya.

i was already logged in but it ate it prematurely.. not sure as to why. oh well..lol
well, the bulk of the formulas i use are here..http://kawispeed.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=386
i need to add more and update it as i've gotten some more that are goosd to know and need to put them on there.. ones for fueling requirements and other CFM calcs and all.
if you get massively bored reading that should clear up any gray area you may have..
the beautiful thing about a turbo motor is you can err on the sloppy side of EVERYTHING, so it's kinda nice not to "worry" about squish being too tight or being down in the .002's for bearing gaps and all..and ya build em up to take the abuse anyway, 2MM "offset" (what i call em..) pistons, and such.. then play with the little things after setting up a good CR. EFI is far better to learn on probably, but i've always ended up learning things the hard way.. the first time i welded was stick welding.. the first tim i TIG welded anything it was aluminum, the first time i machined something was hardened carbon steel.. always something in those situations that coulda been easier.. for me, even tho i am not going to be running stupid tight tolerances on alot of stuff, it's still going to be a tough build in a way and probably could be easier.. lol
