Q16 vs C16

VP C16 Race Fuel
C16 Used in turbocharged engines, blown engines and nitrous applications with CRs up to 17:1. Recommended by the top nitrous oxide companies. Spec Fuel for NHRA Comp Eliminator.

Color: Blue.
Motor Octane: 117.
Specific gravity: .735 at 60° F

VS

VP Q16 Race Fuel
Q16 will work well in any drag racing or circle track application -- naturally aspirated, nitrous or blowers. Q16 is highly oxygenated, requiring a 4-6% increase in fuel flow, which will make 3-5% more power than competitive 116 octane fuels. Q16's oxygenation will significantly expand the range of air/fuel ratio acceptability, so performance will be more consistent and won't vary as dramatically with altitude or density changes. For bracket racers, variations in ET from run to run will be substantially reduced. This added fuel flow also effectively increases its octane by 6-8 numbers above its standard ASTM octane rating.

Color: Yellow
Oxygenated: Yes
Motor Octane: 116
Research Octane: 120+
Specific Gravity: .716 at 60° F

going by the above info, Im thinking about trying Q16 this yr in my secondary fuel tank(for my wet nitrous kit) my local track has both at the same price. if i keep AFR correct, theres no reason why I cant run this with nitrous correct? basically it just needs a little extra fuel pressure or a jet change. Ive heard a lot of guys say dont run oxy fuel with spray, but im guessing they didnt have their AFR correct.
if im missing something plz let me know. any reason to not run Q16? hard on pumps, fuel lines ect ect?? I upgraded my NOS pump to a Holley Blue with a regulator so changing pressure is no big deal
thx

Hey Scott,

I'm thinking as long as you're safe with the a/f you should be good to go. I've got a 5 gal. can coming to try out on my turbo ZRX.

I was advised by VP that Q16 doesn't work right in bike motors. The flame speed is wrong for the engine speed and combustion chamber size. Call VP and talk to them - they're usually very helpful.

I would run straight c12. I dont know what happens when mixing fuels, I dont think anyone does.
You wont lose much with c12 on motor, couple of HP but you make it back up on spray anyway.

I think a few people have run Oxy fuel and N20 at the texas mile and quite a few more at the track. I don't think it was Q16 though. Talk to HalveFast he might have run oxy and a nice shot of N20 at the mile last year.

Tim, were you talking to VP about litre bikes or smaller? guys on psychobike are saying they picked up power with Q instead of C after proper tuning

Mario, the bike will be running on pump gas NA so i dont have to make any changes if im running NA then nitrous, then NA , then nitrous ect ect only running high octane when its needed. plus pump is cheaper

i just had ryan schnitz tune my bike with q16 on motor and spray... it works excellent! it even picked up about 4-5hp opposed to pump on motor and A/F was perfect on the large dry spray im using, and it's not that bad of priced..
