Mad Mike just called and he was STOKED !!!!

TFA is looking good. Big congrats to Mike for his first ever 200mph pass, not a more deserving person out there.

What more can be said about Karl & Doug? So cool that they worked hard all night and built possibly the fastest n/a ZX12R in the country. For the folks that don't know Karl, he's no jockey size wise but has the skills, both as a builder and as a rider. Having Doug in your corner as a cut man certainly will help!

Great job guys.

208.7mph N/A would make it the fastest all motor Kawasaki in the country, period.

Congrats on the speed Karl and Doug!!! You guys definately earned it and then some.

I dont think that wayne rode for scott this time because of his broken leg. Todd dross did run a few passes on scotts bike and he was in the 200's I think. CRS is killing me, now for a short list of the events of the past 2 days......Johnny Cheese ran 196.8 on Friday and then blew up............how bad is unknown yet but he didn't ride Saturday. Wild Bill's 254mph run is officially the fastest ever at the Texas mile. The previous fastest was 251mph set in 2004 I beleive by Scott Guthrie. Mad Mike was not mad today, he had one of those 200.680mph smiles on his face and nothing could have made him mad. And then we have Doug and Karl..................what can i say except WOW ................12 hours and a couple of chicken legs worth of building a motor out of parts from Karls place and they ran neck in neck with karl's 208.740 and Doug's 208.793 and then Doug ran a 198 with the bike coasting through the finish..................this run had 210mph written all over it. Don't know what happened yet but my money says the garage barbies were the culprits. It just doesn't pay to laugh at barbieQue. Osti and his dad left a day early to get their long drive home started as Osti's bike broke along with everything else on Friday. Made Mike has joined the 200mph club here in Tx. ( can I get a hell yeah) And even though it is near as exclusive I am proud to have joined the "I could have gone 200mph club and am well on my way to becoming a legend in my own mind. Tailwinds are my best friend and I really am certain I could have gone 200 if my bike wasnt in a million pieces and in 3 differnent states, This day was so much fun and TFA has by far the best group of guys that ever blew up a motor and I am so blessed to have stumbled into this motorcycle community. My face hurts from smiling so much and everyone elses hurts from a combo wind/sunburn.
What a day! White Hendrix I thought of you alot today and I hope that soon you can find a way to an event and soak it all up too. Maybe Texas mile in October? Start saving now!

I am not sure if Gary got going It was hard to remember who was who with all the real names and forum names. I am certain someone like our fearless moderators will post pics and details soon.

Yay Shane, and Karl you are my hero and Doug is my super hero and you put it in the right perspective when you pointed to there being a big difference in quick and fast. And I cant wait to get out on my bike because it is the fastest of its kind in the world. Right? Anyway I bet that 1bad zx12r didnt throw hhis motor together out of parts in a matter of 12 hours and be either quick or fast. We all know who the gods are and if 1bad was there then what did his bad one do. Where is his time slip. And it is clear that he doesnt know TFA members because I have never hear the words snobs and unfriendly used to describe a TFA racer and probably never will. That would be like calling us tastefull and sophisticated.
Great weekend

Hey Shane,
we had one hell of a weekend at the Texas Mile, GREAT folks (as always), UBER GREAT weather, ummm "moderately" great food (Chinese buffet in Beeville), not so great hotel (America's Inn in Beeville).

my story:

I got to the Mile with a motor which was tested several times on the dyno, and had a banner leakdown before bringing it to Goliad.

First pass on Fri it died and coasted to the 3/4mi marker ay 9:30am WTF????

When I got back to the pits Dane showed up with some Abita beer which I needed GREATLY, thax man!!

At 10:30 Doug Meyer & I left the track, headed back to Houston to see what we could do in my garage to revive it.

At 2pm we arrived and rolled it on the lift, yanked the motor and saw the most spectacular rod bearing damage I have ever seen; the pan was full of black crinkly things, no gold here.

One rod had kicked off it's cap, knocked a cute lil hole in the cases & window in the cyl block. All rod big ends were black, mains in much better shape.

cases, rods, crank, block = junk ( Osti & Mike know exactly what bushes they will end up at)
Luckily head was fine, Doug tested it

sooooo... while Doug did the forensics, i started rooting in my retired parts, normal wear parts, shop supplies collection.

found:
- offset stroker crank semi-retired with chunks outa the starter gear
- rods retired as being suspects in pistons tagging the head (prob innocent)
- 87mm pistons retired with deformed skirts, .0032-.0035 piston to cyl clearance
- cases retired as suspected of being warped
- 87mm offset cyl block with scratches from ingesting sand (was gonna send it to Millennium "someday")
- new sets of rod & main bearings, cam chain, headgasket

Doug transferred trans, shifter stuff, oil stuff, all that stuff from the trashed cases to the replacement, i prepped the new guts.

At 2am we fired it up, loaded bike and tools, quick snooze, headed out for the track at 4:50am.

Arrived back at the track at 8am, did 1st (track was #2) heat cycle, put bike on the grid. Then Osti discovered it was leaking coolant. Doug said "Barr's Leak"!!!! stat !!!!
Emergency call to #1 Son and wife still in Beeville, and 45min later the leak was gone.

Pass # 1 - wouldn't button shift; fiddled with stuff
Pass # 2 - wouldn't button shift, still got a 199.5

Doug fiddled with the Muzzy shifter, pronounced pressure regulator faulty

Osti pulled the one off his bike YAY RYAN!!!!

Pass #3 - 208.740mph WOO_HOOOOOOOOOOOO

Doug took it next and got 208.793mph

Thus Doug has made the fastest pass on a NA Kawasaki that I know of, beat me with my own bike

I gotta say i absolutely could not have done it without Doug Meyer.
He is a fukken garage animal, works non stop, knows where everything goes, checks everything twice.
A true soft spoken gentleman, motor guru, Kawasaki expert sans pareil (sp?)

This was a VERY special weekend for me!

that is unreal.. un fuggin real.

wow.. Mr. Meyer.. my hats off to ya sir.. the kinda guy who would bust his balls to help someone else is top shelf shit in my book!

awesome job on the runs!!

Osti, sorry to hear about your hard luck bro.. thats garbage.. but, theres always next time!!

Karl, sucks about the first motor.. i hear new decorations for a wall of shame?

i have a wall of shame at my shop that cunsists of (so far) everyone elses welded-toether cranks and taco'd valves.. i have placed one oil pump drive gear on this wall out of my own neglect it'll be the last thing i put there. (wasn't meshed with the clutch gear as i torqued the bolt down! tooth on to of tooth-SNAP!!)

BrendaSue.. i will do my damndest to get things going.. i supposedly have a T3 onthe way, but can get a T25 for little to nothing.. i have to get my build done for rolling thunder as the shop will be there with a few bikes we've built.. i'd really like to have mine there.. thats in may i think.. hopefully i can at least have a simple blow-thru setup going for that.. so it's not a trailer queen!!

all this talk about blowing things up makes me wonder what i should bring to texas? another motor maybe!? i was thinkin of riding the bike there.. might not be a smart move if i end up runnin the mile!!
