Texas Mile..........news from event

Well everybody keep your fingers crossed for Karl. He and Doug are in route back to Karls house to rebuild if possible. Not sure yet what happened but it cant be good . Hopefully they will be able to get it fixed and be able to run tommorrow. Hopefully they will find parts they need and it looks like that tail wind is going to be the real deal today...............poor Karl. I will try to update later or maybe Karl will when he gets off the road.

That's bad news, but I know Karl has a lot of spares. If anyone can get it going, I'm sure the two of them can.

Damn, that really sucks, but Im pretty sure Karl has enough spare parts to build another monster 1427, and he and Doug could do it in their sleep by now. I would love to watch them work!
Good luck guys!
any idea what broke? maybe whatever was robbing the 20hp finally gave up and it will be back with a rebuild?

Argh, that sucks. The thrash to get a motor together has one upside - if it comes together and you go fast, it feels extra good

ok update is ......................the rod bearings were all burned, I think that is what Doug said. Or if that doesnt sound right it is something that sounds like that. And the tail wind is almost hard enough to run 200 without a motor. Unbelievable and poor Karl and Doug are missing it. Murphy's Law at work? I think so! Now here is the rest of the bad news Johnny cheese needs rod bearings, osti blew a head gasket, garys timming module came unscrewed and screwed him bad . so the only bikes running are mike harris and possibly gary's later. good news is wild bro went 246 naked baby..yay yay

well ya'll one day down and two to go. I have met so many new and amazing people today. TFA had a great turn out and it was so cool to get to meet all the people that I see in this forum. I have never met such a great group of people in my life. I will go to my grave thinking that I would have gone 200mph today if only falicon would have been able to get my crank done a week or two ago instead of next week. The tail wind today was unbelievable. Anything that was not nailed down was blown down. I also got to meet Scott Guthrie and his wife today as well as Debbie and Todd Dross from twin jugs racing and Wayne Pollack I think was his name. Anyone that did not blow up burn up or go tits up..............probable went very fast. Can't wait untill tommorrow. will try to keep ya'll updated on who is up and who is down. And anything else anyone wants to know about the day as it progresses. And I am having so much fun watching all the talented builders, tuners, and racers that you couldnt knock the smile off my face.

I just tallked to Karl and Doug. Looks like the engine lost oil pressure and resulted in burnt rods and then one snapped and took out the cases etc.
A plug, possably from an oil galley was in the pan.

So at this point it looks like a freek thing.

The good news is they took the engine out and put together another one and after 12 hours of wrenching and a few hours sleep, they are heading back to the mile !!!

Good luck guys.
