and my 01 would have to come with aftermarket face plates installed on the gauges lol. I think they are supposed to replace the 00 220mph version, so mine could be waaay off as i think they come with 190mph gauges on the 01?. I know it has burried the needle past 215mph with 17 48 gearing on a "closed course" before i had a bonneville box... gps is on the get list...

yeah, i look at the tach when im racing, im not even sure what the speedo is registering when im running the 1/4 lol

At maxton I put a sliver of blue tape on the tach where i thought 175mph would be.

Oops... 190mph, but they didn't bitch too much

KZ, you will be able to hit 200 N/A no problem. A lot of the fellas across the pond hit it perty easy on their long course. That is if the weather permits good runs.

Dang, the big question what kind of gearing for the old 12???? 19/42 or 41?????? Still torn on bringing the 12 or the Busa. Busa gearing 18/38?????????

I think the bike will do its job as long as i can tuck well
I have a 17 or 18 front i can use, a 40 or 42 rear (allong with stock 46 or big useless drag sprockets lol) I think ill try the 17 42 combo first. 19 41 is some serious gearing! What were you running when you pulled 210 Gary?

I think 19/43, but I had a ways to go before the limiter. I think I'll put the 42 on and bring a 43, 41, and maybe purchase a 40 if they sell them, lol.

What do you think Karl?

Not sure about the "no problem" part but the odds are pretty good that a 3 mill and 1.5 miles will probably go 200+. Just don't want him to come out and run under 200 and beat himself up over it. I remember my first WOT Nitrous pass at Maxton: 189 mph.

I need to practise my tuck, I know that much allready, so ill be happy to hit 190 NA and break 200 on a pretty good shot of nitrous. eventually, with practise, i think 210 is possible

Karl, the temps are perfect, but the state bird is wicked in July/August. They fly around in large swarms. They attack at will usually around 6 pm, and you can loose a ton of blood quickly. Luckly some chemical engineer came up with DEET to fend them off.

Its no joke.

Talked to the wife about this and a win win situation. She has family in Fort Kent and Woodland and can take off while I watch you boys have fun.I'm hoping to find out if there will be dry camping at the site and if not,is there a campground nearby. Now would be the time to reserve a campsite if need be.

KZscott... with 1.5 miles and cool air, 200mph N/A on a 1287 is pretty much in the bag for an experienced drag racer.

That extra half mile is worth quite a bit of MPH. I did a test one time down here with my 12 when it still had the stock engine and 175rwhp. In 9/10th's of a mile I would average 186mph N/A and 194mph with the 40 shot at 230lb's nekkid during my novice days (keep in mind this is done with south florida heat and everglades swamp humidity and still air).

In the same conditions running just under 1.5mi, I was able to pull 195mph N/A and 203mph on juice which would be a repeated 9mph gain for both aspirations.

So long as your tuck is decent and you don't freak out from the speed (easier said than done for firstimers!) you'll go home with a 200mph N/A ticket and perhaps a 210mph nitrous ticket if all goes well.

Just make sure you don't fall prey to the infamous ZX-12R 199mph curse!!!! So far, Vincent Hill, Doug Meyer, Shiphteey, Entropy, Dave O, and myself have all fallen victim of the 199mph 12R curse. Yes, it happens to even the best of us!!!!

My 199mph curse story was at my first Maxton event. Hit the rev limiter at 200-201mph well before the traps and the bike nosed over, coming through at 199mph... riding the rev limiter the entire way through the traps.

At least if I fell short of 200mph, I could have easily accepted the curse and shrugged my shoulders saying, "Next time".... but to break 200mph and STILL have to go home with a 199mph ticket, that's just cruel. lol

I'm so glad there's no microphone in our helmets, I was not a happy camper on the return road!

Karl, care to share your 199mph curse story with the rest of the class? lol

We've all done it. Not exactly easy to "think" at these speeds.

I STILL have to forcefully tell myself NOT to shift again when I click into 6th. Like you said it's instinct that takes over. Sensory overload makes it hard for the brain to process information.. easy to make mistakes in shifting, tuck, etc.

It's almost like as speeds go up, IQ goes down, lol.
