Boost by Smith

Ok, a little background first. My dads wants an auto shifter on his bike for next season so he doesnt have to button shift. He wants deadly consistancy to beat the snowmobiles that are in the same class at out local track bracket racing. I started looking around, and MPS has an option for about $300. Ive heard guys have trouble using the Dyna shift minder to run as an auto shifter, and the one running my shift light can sometimes flicker at the wrong time. Next I saw the launch light shift light combo by Boost by Smith that has an optional auto shift function for $120. Much better deal, so I email Greg Smith telling him the bikes setup and that we dont really need the shift light or launch light(as long as it shifts dad doesnt care if it lights up). after answering a couple of his questions (very quick replies ) he tells me he can get just what we need for $62 shipped. that beats the hell out of $300 plus SH . very simple to setup, minimal wiring(4 wires ) and its tiny. detailed instructions with pics and great email support. shift rpm is adjustable from 3000 to 15700 in 100 rpm increments. It is controlled by dip switches and 2 push buttons, and requires no external chips.
Faster shipping would have been more, but theres snow on the ground and the motor is still in pieces so I went with first class mail. Ill post pics when I get it.
we finalized the deal last night (sunday) and he actually got it put together last night after I paypal'd him. He shipped it today and emailed me the customs form number. I had a guy with a busa at our local track telling me about how simple/easy Gregs stuff was, so I just wanted to spread the word further.
thanks Greg!

theres a little "whatchamacallit" on the relay too, soldered on. i think it may be a diode. similar to the shift suppression ones seen on other stuff? if anyones dying to know ill ask Greg...

i hope he patented it

with all ECU's knowing what gear you are in
being the keeper of the red line

with electronic shifting being of the standard of the day

auto shifting is essentially the next step

why have paddle shifters..................the ECU knows when you are at red line

if no "over rev" is built in ......................up shift is all that is left to do

on rare occasions holding a gear is desirable..........................very rare

electronic auto shifting trannies will replace the manual & slush boxes
very soon

with soccer mom......in town & smack down programs already supplied in them

just the switch for the mode of the moment.................& put your foot down

it doesnt.... it trips your existing airshifter setup instead of you hitting a button. in this case the NLR IKM is set at 65ms

thanks ..i think i'll stick to the mps with kill ..i know it cost more but it works flawless and less components...

i try to do a dyno-jet multi-hub kill shift set-up a ways back and failed like everyone else that tryed it...

every muzzy shifter kit that i've seen or heard about has had problems ...

but mine and alot of freinds mps with kill has work flawless

some of my freinds even try the dale walker shifter kits which i like and had to end up using the mps box to get it to work flawless

nothing more than a few miss shifts to make a man mad or blow a engine

I'm using the PC-usb as my kill box, with quik-shifter software.
I may have to try this for autoshift.

yeah you can set 2 outputs based on rpm for the usb. one could be auto shifting, the other for nitrous ect...
with the old school PC3R on dads bike with the existing air shifter setup using the NLR kill box, the BBS option was the best way to go to add autoshifting

i not being a ass but i don't need to ask ...it can't be done using a DJ output as a trigger to auto-shift ... something is causing a false trigger just by blipping the throttle on the bike ... which will cause it to trigger the relay and shift the bike .. if it was possible then everybody would be using it instead of buying a shift box ...

i just don't see nothing there for a zx14
