helmetcam... okay so I'm a geek :-)

Just installed a micro black & white camera inside the vent on the front of my helmet. The duct tape is temporary until I find some black racers tape or another solution for the 9V battery.

Although I haven't tested actual video capturing yet (MiniDV camera... but when I do the quality should be really good, much better than this) but I did use the memory stick feature (it makes an .MPG movie dump 15-seconds max with a slower framerate). Then I added a little soundbyte to it for fun

If you have windows media player (.wmv format) here's my first test video you can barely see the camera lens in the helmet even if you're looking for it.

Oh well like I said.. I'm a geek also have a micro COLOR cam that's slightly larger that I'll install on the bike soon! Larger pics are on my site under /misc folder

Should make for an interesting learning tool at the track for launches.

dude, you are about 1 month ahead of me.

I have a color CCD and I've had it working in tests around the house, etc. but when I tried it at Mid-Ohio, and again at Indy's Prostar recently, something bad always happens. EIther I get no video at all, or all 'black', it's always something wrong! BTW, I keep the miniDV camcorder under the rear seat.

I'll keep poking away at it though. I was interested in getting some wild ride shots, and also at the track too! ie. the RPM's, the clutch hand, and if you mark your throttle, you can see if you are at 100%. Good stuff.

Hope yours goes better than mine so far!!

yeah I have a color one too, it's slightly larger but not as big as the one you have shown. I paid about $39 for the B&W lens that fits INSIDE the vent on my helmet shown here: and I bought my color bullet camera lens on sale here http://intellicamspy.com/bullet_cameras.htm for $99 through ebay (reg $149). I'm thinking about a color micro lens that's wireless if this all works out and ebay'ing the other two. Will track test the B&W unit this weekend and post...

That's a pretty slick setup, I like the tiny size of that camera. With some things smaller is better.
