Shinko U-Soft vs. Supercorsa?

I'm trying to decide whether to mount up a Shinko or race take-off Supercorsa on my 14. I will be sitting at about 62 inches. I have both tires. The Supercorsa is a 180/55 and the Shinko a 190/50. I have had good luck with the Shinko's in the past, but I know they are really heavy.

Do you think I would see an et or mph difference between the two tires? If not, I will probably go with the Shinko, since I know what to expect traction/wear-wise.

how much weight are we talking about Shane?
hmmm 62 inches isnt really long, you may not need a shinko, but dont take my word for as i have no personal expirience running that length. i forget what a buddy of mine was running for a tire, but his 4 over 1270 had no trouble without the shinko. it might have been a pilot power...? at about 66 inches my 12 would wheelie with a shinko u soft (it would just light the tire up on the road though)

The rear Shinko is about 3 lbs. heavier than the Pirelli. I have heard that Shinko's rob hp on the dyno, so I was wondering if it would have any affect at the track. Normally I would just throw on the Shinkos (I still may), but since I had the Pirelli here I thought I would ask.

Which supercorsa is it, the sc2 ???

The shinko has more contact and will rob you of mph when you cross the finish line in the 1/4 using a stock motor...

Yes, it's the Supercorsa Pro SC2. Do you think the Shinko will hook better? Is there a drawback to the Pirelli?

Shane with your style of riding the sc2 will be perfect, there are no drawbacks...

Yes the shinko would hook up better due to the wider / flater contact of the tire, which is better for bikes with a piston kit and for those riders that grab alot of throttle at the launch...

Which ever tire you have just use it, If I needed to buy one then I would buy the Pirelli or the Michelin race!!!

I'll see you on the 18th @ Jason Miller's StreetBike Seminars!!!

I vote for the Shinko, it will hook on so-so tracks, and is much cheaper.

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I have been getting a lot more aggressive with the throttle lately (I pin it on Racheal's 1000). Also, some of my local 1/8th mile tracks are a little greasy. So, I think I will go with the Shinko.

Rick, I'm really looking forward to the 18th...now if I can just get everything together in time!

I toss the clutch at 7000, down 2 and up 5 on my 68 " 12. I turn the rim in the tire on the U soft. I like them.

I like the MCR2 better, , and do lose a hair et and mph with the shinko, but i race so much, I was spending 1000 dollars a year on tires.

I have a buddy running a Busa at 64 inches with 230 hp in the 8's with the SC2 he never spins. I will be going with one as well as soon as my stocker wears out on my 08 Busa. It has 145 passes and 1600 street miles and still going strong. Have had a 1.502 60 ft and ran 9.28
