Mr. Koenig told me on the phone, it depends on how many g forces you are creating......

He told me in my application, I needed a roof on the pan to prevent the oil from going vertical.......

Of coarse, this was after my second thrashing.......

Basically the problems came after I gained the best tune up on my multi stage....., on two totally different motors........

This motor has no issues, Coby Adams pan.

I think for certain apps, it is okay. I think with a non TFA rider, and a clutch tuned by me, Karl would be in trouble.......

But, for the slow take offs they do on the mile, and what times he puts on the drag strip right now, its fine......

I know, lots will disagree, but when the builder says....."well, we know things now, that we did not when we built the pan......" you know there are some issues in certain areas.......

Nox, i bet a baffle could be made to get it to work, they make them for the gsxr's...(looking at one on a Schnitz flyer) probly wouldnt be a bad idea for the Coby pan either for added safety

I have heard of full out dragbikes running the pans, and they 60' quicker then you by a tenth or more... and they havent had any issues... not to say a baffle might not be a help, It probably would... but I dont think that was the entire issue...
#3 rod should have went first with no oil and from what I recall that did not happen...

Its not the 60 ft as much as the first 15 ft. or less. The first really two ft. if the oil stays, and the bike moves....., then you have a problem.

I was cutting .420 pro lights, shallow , and I mean very shallow staging......

Hell, even Mr. Koening said there was a problem on the phone, and that it needs a baffle.......

You have to remember, you S L I D E the clutch......., I pop it, HARD. Two different animals. To cut lights like that with no HP, there has to be a very quick initial jerk......., its physics.....,

Scott, VH has some good photos of the coby pan., you cant see inside it, though, its baffled, and the oil can only flow past the stock (cut) pickup. No where else for it to go..........

If I had had one of those scott, I would probably be still running the motor that came in this bike.......

Oh well, lesson learned.......

Were you logging oil pressure to compare the two pans when you were launching the bike?

No.

But we know that 1.32 short times over and over, were no prob for the stock pan.

Then, we took the bars off, kept the singlestage, and ran at 68 inches, for a long time, but a bog kept me from getting out of the hole real hard, and I could not launch the single stage, like I can the multi........, Paul stuart is running that lock up now with great results....., I ran the Koenig pan about 30 passes, before I found the ticket, and when I found the ticket that I could launch REAL hard, it tanked the motor. Then, another motor, same clutch set up, boom, again. Put on the adams pan, same clutch set up, bike hauls ass....., no boom.

May not be rocket science, but aint no way, with the way I run my bike, that will go back to it........

As others have said, your results may vary............

When in the shutdown area, I look down and have at least 40 psi. I have no clue what it is at launch, I shift 1st at about 60 ft, or just after. At stage, its like 60 or 70. I launch at 7000, but, am working on a different tune, that I think I can get some more et out of, and keep it a hair calmer......

only problem I have, is that if Mr. Koenig would admit to there being an issue, and it needing a baffle........, why not offer it? It could have saved me a ton of cashish.

I will say this........, My clutch temps are WAY down now, since running Coby's pan, since there is more oil. It is still higher than brocks meg, so I am VERY happy with it.

The Coby Adams Pan takes the stock pan and drills a number of holes in it and then adds the larger pan around it! 5.5 to 6 Quarts of oil are really a good thing specially when you eat an engine and pump all of the oil into the airbox! I still had several quarts in the pan!

Look at what my body does when I pop the lever, I was 170 suited in this vid. This was the first pass, that we got the multi singing......, it lasted 1 more, and then it went at 330. If it jolts me that hard, think what that oil is doing, with no baffles in a big flat pan......, yes the pick up moves, but it can't climb......

I may have been fine, if I was just not messing, and seeing what I could do with the thing, I have it backed off now......, to bracket race, and I keep it about a tenth slow at 60 foot to be conservative.....

Some have suggested that the pick up itself was sucking air, where it spins.......

Without data log, it really is a mute point to argue, but if there were not an issue, why would Mr. Koenig tell me on the phone that he knows there is an issue with it........

Its kinda like the oil filter thread on another forum here........, go with what works for you, but it damn sure tore up two totally different motors for me........

Yes, you cannot see it, but there is a baffle, under what used to be the floor of the old pan, going left to right.........

the old must go under the pickup, it has no other route to go........

It is about even with the sight window...........

There is a reason the BBC guys build pans like this........, the just plain work.

good to know. im going to make my own version of this pan for the bar bike. i had planned on putting a baffle in on the added section to the side so the oil gets shoved to the pickup on acceleration and decelleration (think triangle shape with the point at the pickup)
the gsxr baffle would act as a roof as you put it to prevent oil from going vertical... i wonder if i could fab one for the 12 or maybe theres stuff in the way? hmmm

Thats what the Coby pan has......, but it is just flat........

Not sure......

Stock pan worked at 1.31 and 1.32 short times.......

No issues......, but looks like you will be going crazy low on the bar bike, that will be cool.......

Get with me soon on the lock ups, whose will be done first.........

yeah, once the motor is assembled (should have a schnitz order mid next week) im going to make the oil pan match the muzzy sidewinder we got for ground clearance. it will probly be shorter than the coby pan... maybe an inch or so?
his bike will be done first. a car accident sort of put my build on hold temporarily
