I just re-read much of this thread and i am amazed at the wealth of info Tim Chin has taken the time to contribute.

For sure, i would not have racked up a grand in McM-C bills if Tim wasn't so generous with his advice, but for double-damn sure i'd still be rebuilding broken motors instead of doing satisfying (if not always successful) "experiments".
(motor is on the bench for the 5th time since Jan 1 )

You're too funny, Karl! I can't believe you go back and read through the old threads, especially ones dominated by an opinionated bastard like me. Keep me posted on your rebuild (I haven't heard much since we talked Flex Hones).

hey Tim!
I received the hone yesterday and will give it a spin (so to speak) on Sat, gotta travel to Bay Area today for a 20min presentation

a word on re-reading ole Chin posts...

the first time you read Sr Chin's detailed explanations you think, OK, that seems doable and you do it kinda successfully a few times.
Go back and read the posts after you've done it, and you'll pick up other stuff that flew over yr head the 1st time through.
that's my story and i'm stickin' to it!

if you get the dummy shaft you dont need to weld anything. the o rings seal everything. if you just take the balancer off of the stock shaft, you need to weld the holes in it shut.

really bad yr for maple syrup my uncle had over good 20 boils last yr and only 7 this yr so far, and i think its done. i didnt even get to boil any this yr, just tap in half the trees(about 1500).

working 9 hr days(2 hr round trip to work and back) building houses, running on coffee and dayquill. doesnt leave much energy for building bikes

i do have a drs app coming up tho
