braced extensions
it seems like a lot of guys think bolt on extensions are weak, so i had an idea and went out and started playing with cardboard in the shop again. I came up with this template so far. this design will give them an underbrace and allow me to still remove them as the brace on the extension is bolted to the rest of the underbracing. (the 2 blue lines i drew in MS paint represtent the bolts. the rest of the joints will be welded). my extensions held up just fine so far, but ill be launching harder this season and playing with nitrous, so i decided to go over kill and make sure everything holds up to the abuse. ill have a similar design on dads bar bike. stay tuned

Sell the stock arm, sell the extensions, and then buy a decent arm.....
BTW, before you go crazy, you need to get a MT slick, and mount on it....., it is way taller, and will change the geometry of the bike......
My daughter would love to have you by her side in art class btw......
3221 I think is the mt part number......
Do the burnouts in 3rd or 4th with the gear I sent you, until smoke gets around your legs....., and it will hook like mad.......

maybe next season we will get built arms. for now, another $25 worth of tubing will work just fine. im running a shinko on the blue bike like last season. (street class)
i rocked in art class
i allways make templates before i make stuff now. mocking up cardboard is way faster and cheaper if you cut something wrong.
for the bar bike burnout, do you start in 3rd or 4th gear or start in 1st and airshift while spinning??? i was allways told not to shift when spinning, but all the drag cars do it for their burnout....but they are autos....

No, just start in 3rd. Just make sure the tire is wet. It takes a little practice......
I miss 4th gear burnouts........, too much fun.......

They claim that the ext are rated for up to 300 hp. What material are you planning to use for the brace, looks like it will be plenty sturdy.

going to get some 1 inch aluminum tubing from a local place, im not sure exactly what they have, but im pretty sure they will have something that will work

But 185 hp on bars, is worse......
no chassis flex, all the stress is back there......
With a suspension set up, the bike will just rotate on the tire......., and flip if it has to....., with bars, that wont happen......

havent done anything more on my bike, but i did this awhile back, just got some pics
originally i made the bar brackets on dads bike attatch only to the stock part of the arm so the extensions could be taken off if the bike was ever put back to a street bike. well we decided that it would probly stay a drag only bike forever so the extensions and arm are becoming one piece with some bracing i made out of some scrap aluminum i had. i spot welded it together with an arc welder and im taking it to be tig welded by a pro(one of dads friends ). all the black marker lines are going to be welded. i think it will be a lot stronger this way
