A doesnt seem to have the erosion as bad. Are they from this last dyno session?

A is from the last 3 sessions at Andy dyno, 120 steps total

B is the previous set which has about 120 Andy steps + 43 JohnnyCheese pulls

Between A&B I had the crank demagnetized and ran a ground strap to the head.

Did it help?

Sure seems like it, but not conclusive because of the extra 43 JC pulls.

In any event, I will demag future cranks and continue running the ground strap to the head.

Very nice test, if you really want to be scientific, remagnetize it and try again This is your hobby, right?

Dean,
Good idea on the remagnetization Do you know who does the best crankshaft magnetization??? APE?? Falicon?? Marine Crankshaft???

"hobby" ???
more like dementia

hahaha get the crank remagnetized surrrre
how about this for a test:
x number of pulls with "normal" bearings (no magnetization) vs. x number of pulls with coated bearings (no magnetization)
come on Karl, you know you wanna

yep, this build is gonna add treated & coated bearings & tappets to the treated & coated pistons i am running now. You WIN another prize!!!

gotta be specific:
a) there are surface treatments like WPC

and

b) there are a bunch of different types of coatings like the Tin/MoS2

or

c) you can have the surface treatment AND a coating

i am currently running WPC surface treatment with TinMoS2 coating on my pistons.

for the upcoming bearings and tappets Izumi recommends:
1.For bearings, we use solid media for the process.. It embeds solid lubricant media and makes micro-dimples on the surface at the same time.
2.Our standard treatment for tappets is micro-dimple treatment and solid lubricant treatment. Sometimes we treat only solid lubricant treatment. It depends on the material and surface condition / coatings on the tappets

I don't know shit from shinola about surface treatment OR coatings, but with Izumi's assistance i am starting to get some basics

TRNorBRN has way more knowledge than I do, yep!

woohoo i like prizes (still wondering what i won the first time though lol) but info like this is just great for prizes
so with the micro dimples, the bearing/tappet surfaces holds oil better? and the solid lubricant is a no brainer. makes it slippery(er):P kinda like adding teflon to a pan lol
do they do any surface treatments or coatings to the crank? or is nitriding as good as it gets?
do they do anything to ceramic bearings?
what about gears? ok, ill stop, thats enough questions for one post :P
