hey guys, just looking for some info on this, lots of car guys do this to free up "robbed" hp. theres also the idea of preventing any oil starvation too right?

My .02...be more concerned of "robbed" reliability than "robbed" hp.

a couple hp to the oil/water pump is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down my list of priorities.

getting the most hp / reliability out of my current set up takes all the planning-experimenting-time-money I have.

i got ya, i was just thinking that since i have to replace my oil pump, i might aswell get something better(?). no risk of the pump sucking air if setup right ?
plus with an electric water pump, and my manual fan switch, i could REALLY cool the bike down between runs(i think).
now i have to let it sit with the fan on and start it up for a few seconds every few min to move the cooler water from the rad into the motor..... if it was a constant flow, and the fan was on continuously, i bet it would work a lot better.... just going by what i see on drag cars. ive been helping my uncle out with his for a few yrs (he got me hooked:P how can you not get hooked after being around an 8 second corvette? )

I pm'd Doug M to have a look at this thread, hopefully he will give me the full scoop and the pros and cons, and maybe a way to build a system not quite as complex. i wont be spending $1795.95 on their kit anytime soon, waaaay more functional/practical stuff is on the wish list first!

just brainstorming here, forgive me if i get too crazy :P what about modifying the oil pick up? I remember seeing pics of a built KZ1000 (IIRC) that had beed modified to safely(as far as oil goes) drag race or do extended duration wheelies with a tube running to the back/bottom of the oil pan to pick up the oil there. i would think something like this would work just as good for keeping the motor supplied with oil on a hard launch as a dry sump, or a swinging pick up. the only drawback i can see is braking at the end of the track... thats where the swinging pick up would prove better. but, if proper baffling was created, it might work great.
anyone think i might be onto a cheap and easy way to keep these motors living a lot longer on the cheap? throw your ideas out there guys!
