Hey fellas
I was wondering if someone out there could give me step by step instructions on how to set up a dry nitros kit. I received a bottle and solenoid last weekend and I know that I need the obvious lines and guages. I was going to hook it up to the horn button, probably only use in 2nd and on....any advise would be appreciated.

Also I am interested in hearing what gearing people are using.. I have a 04 12r.. slammed and extended 8 inches, running 7 inch slick. Im geared 16/50 now and am getting 1.65 60's. and running 140mph.
Im a heavy rider at 240 but it doesn't make sense to me some of the posted numbers by members I see here.. Sorry but stock motors running 9.20's @ 150mph+ doesn't make a lot of sense to me and I've been racing for 10 yrs... Any tips here would be nice as well...

thanks

KK,
someone else can chime in on N2O, but stock motors on stretched 12's have been running 9.0's since KCadby in JAX started getting after it in 2001.

Not to start trouble but the 240 is your road block.
Those times are little guys riding well and usually under 150 lbs.
I went 9.48 on stock motor 4" over when I was 180 lbs.
I ran low 1.50s in the 60. Now @205 and 6" over, high 1.40's .
If you get your 60' down 2 tenths that would be close to 4 tenths on the other end.
Post times from one of your avg tickets. Maybe we can help.

You can leave harder! 1.65 is stock wheelbase 60 times.
At 8" over and 240lbs you should not worry much about wheelies,
What is the bike doing to prevent you from leaving harder?
Tell us about your bike, what fuel, tune-up, timing, clutch mods.

How serious are you racing $$$$? Guage not NEEDED on a dry shot.
Depending on the size of bottle and shot you can fill and spray 3-5 times
then it refill time. Most of the guys I know with dry kits don't purge or heat the bottle
so a guage will tell you what you have but you probably won't do anything with that infomation. Bottle weight is more reliable than pressure.
example..a 2lb bottle with 1lb on gas can show 900 psi on a hot day, but the pressure will fall very fast when you hit the button resulting in low nitrous runs.

hope that helps
G

Hey fellas thanks for the response..
This is the 1st season I had the bike and only the second weekend out on it.. Now to tell u a little this is my street bike and I change it over just to have a couple of weekends at the track. It is completely stock except for the few parts I put on it this year. I want to list it so u guys can comment on it in a constructive way and let me know what u think I should be doing...so far this is what I have:
-Stock engine
-stock pipe
8 inch extensions
drag chain
rear link lowered to middle setting. Can't lower without ruining inner fender.
7 inch slick
schnitz lowering strap
16/50 gearing.
Im launching around 4500rpm
Running flat 10's....1.65 60ft...140mph...redline in 4th,,,, very consistant

Im getting or have on the way....
air over electric shifter
power commander
Pipe
inner fender so i can lower bike all the way.(any ideas where I can get this?)
another seat to cut out foam, will drop me another 2 inches..I have short legs.
Considering even lower gearing...?? anyone with extensive experience on this???
Oh Ya and at 240lbs,,go on a diet!!!! lol

So please let me know what I should expect from the bike like this
what other mods I should do...and basically any ideas or results you have...for example I herd the 12 l;oves timing. Does the 04 like it as well and can I do it with nos,,,,
thanks for all your support

I would pick up a good used pipe...the stock pipe is very restrictive!

I started w/1.8 60s....lowered it....high 1.7s....worked my way now to 1.61...stock swingarm with 16/44 gearing lowered, piped, filter.

Lots of practice....you are about twice my weight. I launch 5 to 5.5 so you should be higher assuming the same gearing.

Practice practice! Don't worry too much bro....1st time I sprayed I went 10.1....even though I went 10.2 bone stock!

Then 9.8 @ 148 sea level pipe/filter/pc3 stock geared on SPRAY

Got better....dropping 60s....then I'd run that time and mph on motor

Then 9.6s @ 148 on motor

Then sprayed it went 9.46 @ 155

Then n/a I went 9.40 @ 152.

Practice Practice....snap...then feed....then again you're longer so I'm not really the guy to ask on that.

I can say I picked up my 12 ....2 years ago....only focused on 60s....not r/t.....et....mph....nada...just 60s.

A.

Just curious as to why you are running a slick on your bike??Shinkos work great or even a M/T....DO you have a wheelie bar? change gearing to 17/51 will not be aggressive out of the hole ,I usually shift into 2 gear with front tire carrying a little...Let her rip leaving the line....

Leave at about 6500-7000 at 4500 you are probaly bogging from the line,,and redlining in 4th gear is also hurtin your ET,any time you are on the Rev limiter it is zapping that ET..JUST trying to help you out, been there done that...

Okay boys, here is a prime example of what a hair of power, and body wieght changes who needs what gear,

This guy is running 16/50, and getting top of 4th in the quarter........

I have a ton of bolt ons, and U4, and weigh 175 suited, and run 16/51. I hit top of 4th in the 1/8th!!!!!!!!!!! Top of 6th in the quarter.......

This is why you have to go with what works for you...........

King Kwik, send me a PM, I have a 54 and 56 Tooth sprocket from my Pro ET days, of slick and bar racing on my 12, one of them should really help you get out of the hole........, I will sell em both pretty cheap........, get some torque in that baby........., should pick you up a couple of tenths.......

Put some RPMs on that girl and let her go!!!!!!!!!
I like 5500 - 6000 . get a timing advancer and set it on 2.5 degrees advance.
Get a pipe and PC3 ASAP. The zx12 responds better than most to a good pipe.
There are some good maps floating around for just about any pipe.
A little warning, the muzzy pipe make good power but has a big power dip down low
where it gets in the way on the street, IMO.
Akrapovic and Hindle are nice all around pipes.
You are comparing 'stock bike' to 'stock motor' times, big difference.
15+ hp increase is not uncommon for pipe and tuned .
Did I say turn her up and turn her loose! lock the throttle and slide the clutch.
Watch the right hand of Ricky gadson or Ryan shnitzs.

Hey thanks to all the fellas that replied...seems like a lot of good info... I do realize that theres a lot more there and I need the seat time to bring it out and yes the bike hasn't even been tuned with pipe and commander yet. I was just trying to short track on the gearing to see what other people had success with... I already tried different combinations and found that with 2 teeth down in front and up 4 in the back theres room for more... need to get those 60's down...Also I need to make or find an alternative for the inner fender...I can't lower the bike to the lowest setting, all thislittle stuff will help im sure ....thanks guys

He has to get the power curve right too. My dads dually has .3.73 gears......, my motor home has 4.56 gears, gotta have more, because it weighs twice as much.

He needs more gear to get the beast moving, he is geared to the moon, and still only getting 4th. Lots of variables here
