MIR Superbike Showdown

I ran 60" PSB and on a short 58" wheelbase stock arm 16/44 gearing on motor.. I think everyone else was right at 60" running big motor nitrous and turbo bikes.

My goal was simply to qualify and I did, right behind Ryan, but of course I was eliminated in the 1st round by Joe Lyons 8.80 ET oldschool nitrous GSXR. Unfortunately Joe broke something major on that pass, and I was hoping to advance to next round but there is no "break rule" so we were both out for the day.

There was a big arugment over rules in 60" PSB during 1st round qualifying when nearly half of the bikes (including Gadson's bike) didn't have the minimum 2" ground clearance (with the rider on the bike) required by the rules.

First let me say although I am NOT a big fan of this rule, it IS a rule that everyone knew about in advance. That being said.. a shouting match immediately ensued and eventually it was decided to allow everyone to run with NO ground clearance rule!

I was kind of disappointed for two reasons- (1.) I spent time preparing my bike to be legal @ 2.2" and (2.) everyone knew well in advance what the rules were before they got there.. besides what is the point in having rules if nobody follows them? 0% chance this would have happened at a ProStar race.

Obviously it wouldn't have mattered much in the long run; but that being the case, 1" or 2" or whatever, everyone needs to play by the rules!

Jason Miller went 8.4 on his 60" Hayabusa but dropped out of the class entirely. Note he would have been the #1 qualifier with that ET! I can understand his position and why he was upset. Anyway, enough from me on 60".

I was happy that I did set a new personal best MPH. In the Streetbike class and during practice session I was trapping high 151s! and managed a couple low 9.6s. But I was having shifting problems; eventually discovered a leak in my airshifter line. Best 60' was a leizurely 1.67 with average being 1.70~1.72. I still need practice to get back to where I was two years ago. Until two weeks ago I hadn't raced in well over a year.

Also I picked up a Dry kit from Ryan and a Muzzys clutch pack from the Schnitz Racing table for a discounted racers price (Thanks Ryan!). I didn't have time to install the dry kit however I watched Ryan who was running a Dry Nitrous assisted 60" silver 12R go 9.OOH with a good launch! Awesome! I will defintely have mine in operation for the next race.

I had a great time and made around 25 passes over the entire weekend. MIR staff handled everything really smooth. I like the fact the events are two days now! Major highlights for me was that I got to run against Ryan Schnitz and Rickey Gadson and hang out with the quickest pro riders in the country! It was cool! I appreciate all the advice everyone offered me.

I'll post a link to event pictures once I update the website.

Right now I'm gearing up for Maxton next weekend, hope to see some of you there!
