Comeon guys...Dont be so hard on RAC4IT...I am one of those guys that does'nt want to use an airshifter either!!!
The fastest I have been on my 2002 ZX12 with just an Akrapovic, 16-44 gearing, slammed, Muzzy kleen air blockoffs, Falicon BilletBasket, MR9 fuel, 57" wheelbase, FOOTSHIFTING with an all OEM motor never opened up, OEM air filters, timing, Dunlop 208s is 9.45 @ 152 in 50 degree weather and I weigh 195 fully suited...
If you guys would just give it time, you'll get use to getting your foot up as you go faster and faster!!!...All it is, is a different style of riding!!!...Bergie is right in saying there is no official documented proof of an air/electric/auto shifter being faster because is so hard to run the same ET time after time on a motorcycle...Also, there is no more or less chance of a screwed up run by using electronics compared to manual operation of the motorcycle...There are still too many factors for error that can happen at anytime!!!
Sure by adding all the trick mods it makes it easier to ride therefor allowing you to have greater consentration on doing what you need to Win!!!...But then again, if you are use to having to do a bunch of different chores while DragRacing then who really has the advantage???
Does using or not using an airshifter make you a better DragRacer???...I say no!!!...I just think that everyone needs to have the basic skills and a whole lot of seat time!!!
Just my .02 cents

Guess it comes down to some people need more help than others I suppose I'm surprised the whole button pressing thing isn't too complicated for people that find shifting too difficult. Why not just get someone else to ride your shit all together, then you wont need any skills and you'll never miss a shift LOL

Just put the auto shifter on it with 100 hp progressive nitrous on the the throttle. Sit the bike at 68". Cut a good light, throw the slider clutch and lock the throttle. Can't get much simplier than that, but would it be fun
After the first 3 runs?
All kidding aside , to each his own. I didn't need a shifter either until
i tried one. DAM IT'S NICE! Concentrate on your 60' , not getting back on the bike. Hit your shift points without upsetting the bike.
YES it's easier to ride with a shifter, does it make you a better rider because you don't use one? It's easier to drive a auto car than an stick but are you a better driver because you drive a stick?
We have a saying "GET WHAT YOU NEED AND GET A LANE".
To be most comfortable and confident,
I need 1200+ cc , 6" arm, airshifter and nitrous. SLAMMED!
I like the right lane. ARE YOU READY?
I don't always win, but i will try anybody.

For all of you "Non-Airshifter" racers. ..............If you want to foot shift......MORE POWER TO YOU.
And If I want to spend the $$$ and put and air shifter on my bike....That is my freaking right and DOES NOT mean that I nor anyone else is a sissy because we choose this MOD....
If any of you guy's were really working from this thing that you call SKILL.....You would be able to buy a stock bike (NO mod's) and run 8's.....You would not need the lowering links, Shoot-out tire, pipe, PCIII, Ext. swingarm... But I bet all of you have some kind of MOD on your bike to go fast....
That means that ALL of you have some kind of freaking "CRUTCH".....so GET OFF MY AIRSHIFTER

quote: How much of a problem is it to get use shifting(horn button)and hitting the starter button for nitrous? Seems a little busy to me.
To answer your question....Since the Airshifter haters hi-jacked your thread....
It is really not bad at all. I use the horn / started button combo all the time. I hit the (horn)shifter into second and then lay on the (starter) NOS button. The right hand only has to get to full throttle and then push/hold the NOS button. At that point, you are only hitting the horn button to shift.....so It is really not that much action.
A couple trips down the track and you get used to it.
