air shifter and nitrous

How much of a problem is it to get use shifting(horn button)and hitting the starter button for nitrous? Seems a little busy to me.

a) you don't need an airshifter, waste of time and money

2) if you dont listen to me and decide to get one anyway which most people do then eventually sell it because they gained nothing, well then just put your n20 on a wide open throttle switch and forget about the button because you're probably not spraying enough (40-80hp) to worry about needing it on a button anyway.

Hitting the horn button to shift becomes automatic, but I prefer a WOT switch for the nitrous, especially if you have a progressive box. It can be a bit tricky if you get wide open a few feet from the line and the spray hits.

Ive had the air shifter for a couple of months now and I love it.Don'tknow about WOT switch and !st gear.I still have to get the basics down befor I even want to think about spraying or its weekly cost(40-80HP).I just never picked up on if it was discussed.I still want to keep the fun in it.

i have a timmer that will delay the WOT switch that you can adjust from .05 -5 seconds to the sol. so set about 1.5 sec. and u should be in 2nd gear when the sol. gets power. its only about 30.00 $ its very small and is solid state. it can handle the amperage of just about all sol.

All things being equal, an properly installed airshifter can make a difference of up to 3/10ths in et.
On higher hp applications(200+) its not entirely useless.

But, if you're learning to ride the bike its best to run without one.

bahahahahahahaha

Bergie's creds are beyond reproach; we have put up with his nonsensical idiosyncracies on button shifters for 3-4 yrs and will put up with it in the future.

YOU on the other hand, are something else

"todays my b-day.
please talk to whoever you pray to and ask that i get an air shifter kit for my b-day. i know i might not deserve it, but i shure could use it.
thanx
trik"

I have both, wot and start button, 30 shot each. I did have a 40 shot on the button and kinda liked it, thought I'd give this a try. Not quite used to it yet, along with the horn for the airshifter, things seem to have got a lot busier, atleast for me(most of the passes have been 1/8 mile). Usually seems like I end up using one or the other and footshifting, just need some seat time to figure out which combo works best for me.

It really depends on what your doing. if your out having fun, you dont need it. But if your wanting to be consistant and win ET races. it is a must! 21 carrer wins and counting.... in 6 years. It is so much more consistant with the air shifter.

Actually MM airshifters makes you LOSE races because it's not as reliable as your foot! Countless times I've seen races lost because of a missed shift using an airshifter. I bet it's happened to you! Probably more than if you foot shifted! You wouldn't know how many more races you could have one WITHOUT IT because you've been using it all this time. Plus you'll hone skills without the button becoming a better drag racer.

I totally disagree. I have lost 1 round that I remember from my airshifter not shifting, hell it could have been the race. but I dont think it was. I have had more problems with a low battery, or a dirty kill switch over the last six years, 10x over. I feel the bike is quick, and reliable, and consistant, you might be able to be fast not using an air shifter, but you will be more consistant, I have a perfect soloution to this forever issue. We race 10 times, you footshifting and me air. and whoever is closest to the dial over or under, win's I will bet you 5 bucks and a 12 pack of beer I win! How does that sound? and I will travel to drink my beer even. hmmmm.... think about it.

Bergie, why do you think airshifters are so common? Do you know of a SBS or 60"PSB racer who footshifts?

Because those bikes run in the 7's and leave like a bat out of hell. Controlling the bike and body position at that horsepower and ET level is when the airshifter comes in handy.

You don't need an airshifter to run 8.50s. Mad Mike's streetbike doesn't need an airshifter and it ain't going 8.50s (yet) let alone 7's anytime soon.

Actually guess what? That track is only 30 minutes from my new house! It's going to be nice not having to drive 2 hours to an event and that will be my local track next year! So we can maybe do a track rental the day before or something, get a group of guys $50-100 each should cover it. We rent MIR all the time $1200 upto 16 riders the whole day all to ourselves! We'll have to talk to the management at Commerce to check pricing.

Otherwise I may just have to eliminate MM in the first round of Street ET. And send him home cryin'

or better yet, when I knock MM out in round one, he takes the airshifter off for the rest of the season! If lightning strikes me or I get a flat tire and he beats me, well then I will put an airshifter on my heap of junk.
