blow me

your really perceptive as one parked on blacktop and one is parked on cement, but if it makes you feel better they are parked next to each other right now.

3 years ago I got my motorcycle license and I bought a 74 sportster then 2 months later I bought the bike in the pic only it was much diferent (883 ect..)where I live is a huge harley town and all I heard was jap crap this and crotch rocket that blah blah blah .So I finally get my sportbike this year and I love it havent rode the harley much since.
But now all I hear is sportbikers (not all) bashing harleys .Personaly I dont give a shit what you ride and it should'nt matter to anybody else either.
So kiss my tractor riding ass.

well put dwb

Good point dwb. I will say that the Harley Guys started this feud that is going on between HD and SB riders. I just hate it when we lower ourselves to their level. I love motorcycles. Period. I think one of our members puts it best. There are no bad bikes... only bad riders.

PS- Nice sporty... and of course... very nice 12R.

I would break out wifey's hairdryer on those decals though.

...that was me, KawRider...and if I ever get the chance, I'd like to have a Buell Firebolt parked next to my 12R in my stable and utilize it for realistic canyon carving (for me, anyway), thank you...ride on, brother!

That blue is killer. I would have made the road trip to Canada to get one but I don't think they warranty them down here if it's from up north eh. Very nice bike

I can help you DWB!!!!

DWB,
I am sure that zx12mark's insightful comments have you soooooo discouraged about yr Sportster, you can't bear to look at it anymore. Thus, I will come and pick it up and put it in my garage (next to my 12), and even do you the additional favor of taking it out for exercise now & then. Yep, I would do that for you, its Christmas after all.

I haven't owned a Sportster since late 60's, and except for a huge bruise on the inside of my right knee (do NOT straddle to kick start, eh), I have nothing but fond memories.

Just tell when is most convenient to come pick it up

PS: the blue is really nice, congrats!

Thanks for the kind words

As for the mods . It "was" an 883 the way I wrote that was missleading.

It was punched out to 1200

nallin pistons www.nallinracing.com
mikuni hsr42 carb
screamin eagle cams .497 lift (might go alittle bigger)

autometer 5"tach w/shift light
corbin gunfighter seat w/snakeskin flames
and some other cosmetic mods

this finger is for harleys. all harleys. not you. i don't even know you.but i do know motorcycles are about performance. a harley has none. their for stroking the owners ego.i have hated those tractors since 1974 when i use to smoke um with my 74 850 norton commando.it was a joke.i have freinds with harleys.thats their deal.i hope you always remember that everytime time you ride that zx12r you are going into battle with that engine and it will get you if snooz like when riding a harley cause their so boring.i am devoted to superbikes.it seems kawasaki thinks the same way.they want to be known for making the meanest, flat nastiest motorcycle on the planet.i had a 91zx11 for 10 years before my zx12r and was never beat by anything on the street.the zx12r makes it look like a mini bike. in 57000 miles i rode it to work at least 200 times a year.oh ya i~m jaded. VERY JADED.i wanted the best and i got the best.

point taken zx12mark

I agree with you ,I wanted performance and I squeezed as much out of my harley as I could and then I got real and bought my 12 and its AWSOME.I also agree that some harley riders are caught up in their own ego.I live in a BIG
harley town I dont get to see but a handful of sportbikes.

But I don"t agree that motorcycles are "all" about performance .Maybe to those of us on this board but to some its about riding , meeting people ,having a good time or what ever else they want it to be.

keep the shiny side up and merry christmas

...as if what YOU (zx12mark) say or what anyone says here about HDs and HD products really matters to some of us HD fans...chill, dude...have a beer and some beef sticks.... ....there are as many sportbike 'wanna-bes' as there are HD ridin' wanna-bes... there are probably as many goofy Japanese or European design/details as there are American ...I dare any of some of you strictly sportbiker-types (except maybe Harry, TedG, and SEE YA) to go into a biker bar and talk shit face to face about some of the patrons' nasty rides sitting outside ...I thought so lol lol lol ...too funny, man lol lol lol ...would I do it?...HELL NO! ...I KNOW what's in there!!!! scarey, man.....lol lol lol

...bikes are what they are...buy it for what it can or cannot do...then ride it accordingly...have fun

Man!!!!

Give the guy a break!!!!

I am not a Harley or Cruiser fan either...That's not my cup of tea!!!! But they made different types of bikes for different types of riding / riders!!!! I and many of us here prefer hyper performance...but I bet a guy that buy's a Goldwing or Harley is not thinking of hyper performance!!!

Doesn't matter what you ride.....only that you RIDE!!

Welcome!!!! Nice bike....I like that color!!!!

That blue is the only color that possibly would sway me from red[/]. Nice HD! Talk about a sleeper, my dream is an 883 with a S&S crankcase 4"x4" Sportster engine. That $ outlay would still be less than I've got in my 12 so far. Great fun for stoplight to stoplight.

...this crowd is FAR more sophisticated than that...many have a variety of bikes for its intended purposes...sure, this is a ZX-12R/sportbike site, but ALOT are just good ole' PERFORMANCE ENTHUSIASTS who can appreciate the performance of any tweaked and massaged bike or car/truck/boat/bus/plane...or even the BOSS HOGS (well, at least I do )...we're just speed freaks and we happen to have 12Rs (among other bikes)...don't get you started on Harleys, huh?...sorry, man

There is a local guy with a 100"(4"x4")sportster that races at the local 1/8 mile "outlaw" dragstrip. He's got the bike raked and streched a bit with about 125rwhp and its his everyday driver.

He's kinda the man to beat at that strip.I've seen a busa and a 140" evo hardtail beat him , neat bike.

I talked to the s&s guy about that motor in daytona...$8700!!!I could buy another 12!

Thst is a nice Sportster. I like the blue 12 too, considered getting a blue one myself but the silver was available within 10 miles of the house. Woulda had to go to Canada to get a blue 12R.

Blues and 883s

That is a beautiful paint job done on the 12R. I have no doubt that the pictures do NO JUSTICE to it either. I sure that it's nothing short of stunning in person. I also have no doubt that the person that painted it, probably specializes in painting HDs as well. That ain't no work of an amateur.

Please... PLEASE, don't tell me that you did it yourself! It'd just further prove that I'm the only one on this board that not only can't ride worth a shit, but that can't do anything else either! ARGH!

As for the 883, if I couldn't get the HD of my dreams (a springer soft tail) and odds are that I never will (I can bearly afford the 12R), that is EXACTLY what I'd get and EXACTLY what I'd do to it. Why get a 1200 Sportster when I could get a 883, modify it and eat 1200 Sportsters for lunch?

I'm sure that the 883 is a true labor of love. When modifying just about any other type or model of bike, you can just slap on a few things and BINGO! You got something that is greatly improved then what you started with. Any Yahoo can do that. The same can't be same for a HD. To acomplish the same with a HD, it's almost like a combination
of doing a sculpture and rasing a child.

IMHO, both are impressive machines.

thanks agian for the kind words

red1 as far as mods go besides the akro it has a pc3, k&n's,ss brake lines and an undertail kit w/led lights and a hugger.

redlek as far as the paint job on the 12 I had nothing to do with it ,it's strait from the factory(looks a little darkerin person)And your right about the sportster,it was alabor of love. When I started on it I did'nt know strait up about ANY motor but I just talked to alot of people and Brian at nallin racing helped me alot.I made some mistakes at first but nothing too bad (bent pushrods)but I got the hang of it and now I'm kinda attatched to the bike.
Kinda like what I'm doin now with the 12 ..its my first sportbike...I REALY like it.
