Gas Drinking Monster
I have an 03 ZX12 with about 800 miles on it now. Someone tell me why this thing drinks so much gas? Is this normal or what?

With the power it is laying down do you really care? Don't worry about it, that it pretty much normal, It will get a bit better when it breaks in, but riding style makes a difference too.

What are you getting for mileage? My 2000 with pipe and custom mapped PC with K@N filters will get about 30 if I treat it nice. Got about 40 whem stock.

I can get 170miles out of a tank of gas. Only 40miles less than the Busa.

With my bike making 183 HP, I am able to get 37 to 41 MPG driving between 65 to 90 MPH! about 30 to 35 around town! Even if you were getting 25 MPG, does your car get better?
It is all about mapping!

Marv,
I had that problem too moving up from my yamaha Razz to the ZX-12. It seemed I could just go for days on the Razz between fill ups. The other problem I have is now all my boys from the moped gang can't keep up with me so I am constantly having to slow down and wait for them at intersections. It has put quite a strain on the club and is bleeding over into the dungeon and dragon sessions too.

Actually I beat the Hell out of Stock on this bike only! 99% of the time you are correct! I got 33 MPG stock no matter what! Now I can get that in town and about 40 on the road, something I could never do (37 was best stock)

I would get well over 40 stock, depending on riding habits. Never got better than 35 after mods.

The most that I've ever gotten out of mine was 186 miles. I had to push it the last couple of feet to the pump.

You can get anywhere from 20s to 50 mpg depending on how you ride. When new, pure stock, with the wife on the back, I got 46 mpg. I was riding on the Blueride Parkway in May (Still cool), at 60 mph, without stopping for over 200 miles. Now, after the common mods, by myself, riding aggressively, I get high 20s to low 30s.
Bottom line - Your gas mileage is directly proportional to your right wrist!
