Metzeler Tires
I changed my stock Dunlops to Metzeler M-1 Sportec. Love the grip. Only problem I seem to not be sure of is...tire noise? Seems the new tires are much noisier as soon as you pass 15-20 mph? Can anyone relate to this? I am just trying to make sure it is normal for Metzelers. Any input would be appreciated.

tire noise
I have about 4000 miles on my M1's and have not noticed any increase noise. But then again I don't think I ever really listened for noise from the tires before. It must be really bad for you noticed it. Have you check the obvious first?
1. change the tire pressure by a few psi and see if it gets
better or worse
2. check everything on the front-end. If the dealer did the work something may not be in place right or tight enough.
3. you could have a bad tire. Try to notice where the noise is coming from front or back.
hope it helps..
OH yeah, my wife has M1's on her ZX9R and she doesn;t seem to notice any noise either.

I did the wheel install myself. However the dealer balanced and mounted the tires. I am running a few psi lower than the recommended 42/42. 36 front/ 38 rear. I will try put them back to 42 see if there is a difference.

maybe its me, but I never run that much air in any tire...I usually run 32 in the front and 34 in the back of my bike, running Dragons, and I use the same pressure on the 208's as well....with that much air in the tires my bike handles like a brick, and likes to plow the front end.....play with the pressure some, I am sure it will help....

big thumbs up to the metzeler, love htem to death :-)
ALSO if you put it on yourself, make VERY sure your chain tension is not too tight, this will cause a much louder noise from that area, esp as the bike squats a bit under acceleration (and a zx12 CAN accelerate like NO-ONE's business ;P)
my first bet would be on chain tension/rear wheel alignment.

I agree with HDL. At most I'll run 38 if I know I'm just gonna do freeway miles. On the track (the twisty kind) I usually run 32/32.

That would be my guess as well Slug. And 38 and above air pressure is definitely a free cruiser kind of pressure. The manufacture puts som pretty high numbers on the tire so you can put the little lady and luggage on and not blow a tire. I run in the 30/32 zone myself.

Tires
I have the M-1's on my ZX-9 and I didn't notice any noise increase. I'm going to buy a set for my 12 next week. I want to put a 190 on it. Maybe a 190/55 if they offer it(better profile).

Got a set of them on my zx11...great tire...but I also have a D&D pipe and I don't hear much else. I would have no problem putting them on my 12 cept I got great deal on a set of 190 rear Pirellis.

Bob,
What type of Pirellis are they. Are they 190/55's. Who is giving a good deal on them?

I was thinking/wondering that exact same thing today. I also went from the stock Dunlops to Metzeler M-1 Sportecs.

Same here, except I'm currently running 36/36 psi.
I wonder what your outcome on this issue was...
