Expansion tank bubbling?
Hi all, I noticed recently that after a trip and when I stop and turn the engine off that the expansion tank bubbles up. It only happens when I turn the engine off, it's not overheating and the coolant level doesn't seem to go down so it can't be losing any. Any ideas?

Hi there
Does your fan work!!
When the engine is turned off, it will get hotter because the water isn't circulating , but the fan should still cut in , even with the ignition switched off.
Check to see if your fan works !!!

Hi, I took the expansion tank cap off and ran the engine, and when the engine got hot it overflowed and the fan cut in, so the fan works. However I noticed the radiator cap was bent so I'm going to replace that to see if that is whats cUsing the fault. Could it be that?

a non sealing cap could certainly do it.
cross yr fingers.
if the new cap doesn't fix it, bubbling into the overflow = leaky HG
level in overflow should go up when hot, return to "full" level when cold.
been there, done that
