Std sprockets ZX12R, how many teeth?

Hi, i've just bought a zx12r B model, and when I set off in first gear it's like setting off in second gear as it kinda struggles and I have to slip the clutch which isnt good! I'm presuming oneof the previous owners has changed either one or both of the sprockets for longer gearing but I want to take it back to factory standard and wondered how many teeth there should be on both the front and rear sprockets. Thanks

12 is geared tall. 18/46 stock. Go to the 17 tooth.

Thanks all, but I don't want a wheelie prone machine but whatever is on it now is just plain silly, it's like setting off in 2nd or third gear!

Hi, Ive checked both sprockets and the front one is 18 and the back is 46 but I'm struggling with it as it is as I keep stalling it! Should I go to 17 on the front or 16? Would 17 make a big enough difference? I don't want a wheelie prone machine!'please
Advise. Thanks

Try the 17 toother up front first, if that isn't enough for ya then go up a little on the rear. I wouldn't go any smaller than the 17 on the front though. It might just take some seat time to get used to the 12. The first gear in the 12 is very tall compared to other bikes.

Great, thanks all for your advice, I'm going to try a 17 tooth front sprocket to see how I get on.

I've fitted a smaller 17 tooth front sprocket and I don't feel that it's made much difference. Could it be a fueling problem as it's got a scorpion can and k & n filter fitted? Please advise
