16 or 17 teeth front sprocket?

Ive got a 04 plate zx12r and i hate the std gearing (18/46) as i keep struggling to set off smoothly. Should I go to 17 on the front or 16? Would 17 make a big enough difference? I don't want a wheelie prone machine! Please
Advise. Thanks

17 would be the best.....
I`ve heard the 16 could make the chain cut into the rubber chain guide and possible into the swing arm....

i had a 16t that ate all the way through the chain guard and started eating into the swingarm. its ok for a drag only bike, but not for anything that you're gonna put a lot of miles on.
