exhaust nuts loose

I was riding home last night and started to hear a fluttering noise. It was more pronounced under load. I found the inside #2 header nut missing and hope that was the problem. What does everyone do or use to keep the nuts from loosening?

I can only hope that would be. I've probably only ridden the bike a dozen times and the nuts are loose and lost one already. It was suggested to me to use splitlock or grade 8 locking bolts.

The dealer gave me a bunch of nuts that had grippers(?) on the bottom washer part. We'll see how that works.
