00/01 Head vs. 02 Head
I am buying new valve springs and retainers for my 02 Head. I am wanting to make sure that the retaniers and springs that I am getting (which say they are for an 00/02 model) will work on my 02 head. I am not sure but I thought the only differences was the external motor mount on the head. Does anyone know if the retainiers and valve springs are the same?
thanks

Hmm some interesting changes
Valves have different part numbers.
Retainers are same
Keepers are the same
Valve followers (buckets) are different
Inner/outer intake/exhaust springs are same
Valve guide seals are the same.
I would be very interested in knowing what changes were made to the valves
You can find all the part #'s and diagrams on www.buykawasaki.com

The changes may or may not be significant. Sometimes it is a process, finish, material, or a spec that might make a difference or might not. It could be a different subcontractor or vendor to KHI. You never know until you do a careful side by side comparison and then sometimes you can't find anything. The rule of thumb is if they are listed as a common application, order the latest part number. If they are listed as a specific application, order the one specified for your year/model.

I was looking at getting upgraded valve springs and retainers for my 02 model. I found a kit for an 00/01 model and just wanted to make sure they worked properly.

Send it to Lee's he'll fix you up, especially if you're gonna spray it.

HDL, I have "vintage" Doug Meyer footage from way back in the Dublin days..hehe.
It was the Zx11 with all the trick parts on it. Some pretty good company was there too. Lee Shierts with some kind of oil cooled creation.
Simms and Rohm had one of there rigs there...a massive cc GSXR motor.
A turbo BMW was there by Luftmiester.
Pretty wild for the time!
