Here's my old clutch stuff after I installed the Muzzys kit & the billet basket. It took me about 15 minutes to get all this stuff out, and about 3 hours to get everything back in. Aligning the gears on the billet basket was not a happy time for me.

Here's my Dino's hinge finally installed. This project gave me an excuse to buy an air cutoff tool. (Ya gotta love it!!)

Appears things are coming together. Kind of satisfying to tinker on these things! I can't install mine hinge. I previously cut off one of the helmet bolt tabs for more clearance for my NOS bottle. But I will scope things out and figure out something. I am still amazed at the quality of the product. Dino your work is outstanding.

Wow; congrats dude- getting it all together! Curious what the "trick" was to finally getting the basket in? 3 hours? Shew!

How much were the wheelie bars?

Dave, the trick to getting the basket in was apparently to keep wiggling it. I tried for hours to get it in. The inner bushing would get caught, and I would pull it back out and adjust. I did this for hours. Then I got help from my buddy who used to work at a shop. He did the same thing I did except for one thing. He kept wiggling the basket while pushing the inner bushing in. It was either that, or talk nice to the basket. I was using every swear word in the book trying to get it in. My buddy whispered sweet nothings to the basket.

He did it in less than 10 minutes. You be the judge.

As for the wheelie bars, I got them here for $329. They didn't have any in stock, so they got Pingel to drop ship them directly to me.

There is "NOTHING" to installing a basket, Billet or otherwise. Take a punch about 3/16" in diameter and at least 2" long and grind the end to a rounded point. Hammer it into the hole and slip on the basket. Wiggle it back out and DONE!

Vincent, I wish I would have known that beforehand. I guess I was too lazy to look up earlier posts. Hopefully, I'll never have to do it again.

Dave, yup. The tire is on the rim right now. It doesn't look nearly as wide where there is air in it. It's actually just wider than the rim. The guy who mounted it had a tough time getting the beads to seat though because the tire has a specific warning on it that says not to inflate it past 35 psi.

If anyone looked at the Service manual, they would see the tool Kawasaki sells. Once I saw it, I took a cheap punch ground it and greased it and never looked back! Like most people, I pulled it apart "BEFORE" Reading and then saw the split gear to remove blacklash and then read and looked at the book. No smarter, just did not want to do that much work

It's funny you should mention the book, Vincent. I spent the better part of the weekend searching for my maintenance manual. That's why I posted the other thread asking for the torque specs. The actual process of installing actually went something like this:

1. Try to put it on for 15 minutes.
2. Go in the house and look for the dang manual for another 30 minutes.
3. Repeat the above steps.

Just as my luck would have it, I finally found the manual now that I'm done with everything. (Including installing the solid strut on the rear.) It was right where I left it. The hard part was remembering where I left it.

Fellas,
When you put the basket in, place the bike against something so it won't move forward, place the basket into position without the bushing and PUSH the basket straight forward into the gear from the backside as hard as you can. hold it there, and slide in the bushing.
I was bitching about this process one day when we were first developing the clutch and Rob bet me he could put a basket in in 30 seconds. He did it and it cost me a dinner.

Man..the billet basket was cake even without the punch.....although this was all AFTER i spent an hour trying to get it to fit with the goddam bearing and inner race ALREADY INSTALLED.

once you remove those...Just like Doug says (imagine that )the basket slides in with ease....and the bearing and race slide in to align it like gravy.

It does pay to read the manual first.

YEEE-up...
I posted about that last year
With my Super-Short arms...I can usually wedge my arm between the footpeg and the basket...pushing forward on the basket to install the bushing

Falicon started drilling the hole for the pin...after I told them about it...
We got the Falicon basket...ONLY because they are here in Fl. ...sent John's out on a tuesday and had the new one in the bike on friday for our Sat. race

ok this may sound crude, but I take my 30 MM socket and just tap it lightly and the center bushing slides right in, I was nervous the first time but worked great.

Kevin? Falicon was "NOT" Putting the Hole in the Basket to knock the Pin through? My first time in "Dealing" with this, My wife held the Brake lever, while I pushed the Basket on.
