That Mitsubishi 65" HDTV is freaking INSANE.
Buddy has one...dual tuners...and you can even split the screen in half and watch different things on each side.
If I ever replace my Samsung 56"....ill be getting that one!

I have a 710 Pioneer Elite. HD etc. It is a kick ass TV. That said it cost about $7,000. And there are occasins you find them cheaper. I have yet to see a TV with a better screen at 64". Go to an upper end stereo and TV place let the sales people educate you.

I went the route Ted G went, except I bought the 57" Sony HD widescreen. Its now the lady of the house, never complains, always looks her best and she is easy to turn on! Really, its a great TV. But it was a close race between it and the Ultravision by Hitachi

I got the 65" Sony HDTV and it is unbelievable, I watched Star Wars II last night on it in widescreen and the picture made the theater look second rate. Unreal. Alot of the things that make this a good TV is the way that it handles the 3:2 pulldown, if the DVD player if not progressive scan the TV will do it for you by combining the the 2 (or 3) interlaced frames and turing them into one full frame. I am sure that the major brands all are awesome, but I just went by picture quality with the same source, when a crappy source was used they all exibited the same tendency to really show you the defects. But when the souce was quality, the Sony was much better at displaying motion without that twitter and the artifacts. Color saturation seemed better and there wasn't the smearing of colors (especially around the edges of the screen). I am very pleased. Now that I have been watching it for a while, I look at the other TV in the store and have a good reference, I know I made the right choice. Good luck. Also look at the black horozontal line that most TVs display they are almost non existant in this Sony. Make sure you get a HDTV monitor, not one with a built in HDTV reciever, unless you are dead sure that it will work with your source. Now start reading about cables..talk about make your head swim.

Wait a year on the Plasma. Prices are coming down significantly. There are all kinds of brands but only 4 manufactures.

It seems that if you go to properties and copy the link then paste it into the address bar it shows up. After that it shows up here. Something about this board. When I made a link to it from here it said forbidden.

it isnt forbidden... you have to use the "url" command (see faq) ... auto-linking is disabled as it opens a security loophole in the software (another reason why we dont go down... )

no, it's not that linking is disabled on our side, it's on the LAB side. it's common practice to disallow displaying an image on someone else's site. considered bandwidth theft in many cases (or when used with that intention). the "url" command is indeed the correct way to deal with the issue tho.
btw, it comes up after because ur browser has the image cached, so doesnt bother asking the server for it anymore.

Hey Ted... how many stations or channels are transmitting a HD signal in your neck of the woods? We only get about 5 local and Satelite. It is slowly improving but still damn few.

Pay special attention to the upconverter. In the store they don't show you standard signals upconverted to HD resolution. This is where some manufacturers cut costs and it shows when watching standard signals...have you ever seen someones eyebrows crawling around thier face?
Here's a couple of pics of my set up. It's a 106" front projection screen with a Yamaha DLP projector.
