enjoyed the 12 saturday
it has been a long time since my 12 had street duty. this past saturday was a dyno shootout i usually win with my 10 year old little 1200 and wanted to lean it out and get a smooth curve but lean on top enough that i can add fuel with my dobeck tuner anytime i need to with a screwdriver instead of the laptop.
when i got it a bit too lean for most of you i put the 19 toother in the front and drove it saturday with my maxton gearing instead of my 17/50 track setup. also the new power race 180 rear tire since the shinko was all but used up anyway.
what a fun day. i enjoyed my 12 that day a lot. it has been i bet two years since i drove it as a street bike with street gearing. the bike turns real good even extended and lowered in the middle hole.rode i think 150 mi and my hands felt good i think from the lower rpms dut to the gearing.
i do not know if i won the shootout. it was a poor turnout and if a new busa with some modds or a zx14 with modds they got it. closest one was a 07 busa pc tuned and boltons was 11hp behind me asking if my engine was stock.
then went to karns open house and put it on thier dyno with a sniffer and my wego3 was real close to thier reading. the shop guy thought i had a good setup but about .3 lean for what they shoot for on a regular street bike which i said to him it will be a tad lean and he concured.
now i really need a under tail kit to get the licence plate out of the way of the rear tire. i have it looking well bent by now. they said i got rite around what a new stock busa gets. i am happy.

dont u have a 1270? Oh, ok, u r referring to the new 1340 busa right? I wouldve thought ur 12 wouldve been bout what a piped 1340 busa would b, ur head n all that was from Ace as well, i forget, didnt look back thru the forum to find out. How close is ur torque to that of the new busas? Guess i really wanna know is why is my 1270 such a pig, lmao!!!!!!!!!! N dont say cause of the 240 tire either, sike, i know my head n cams aint right for the 1270, but the builder shouldve told me that when he was in it, Cant afford to take the head back off to get worked, shit, i still havent gotten it to htp to get tuned yet, Damn weather slowed my funds down n now i just had lower back surgery on a herniated disc. I did manage to whip up on an 06 1000 before i had surgery, but that was ONLY cause his air shifter line broke before the race n he cant foot shift, i heard him hit his rev limiter twice, I'll take it any way i can get it, lol

N did u find it more of a sport bike feel over ur 14 or they ride bout the same as far as comfort, glad to c u enjoyed it!!!!!!!!!!

sir my engine is stock size. the muzzy gave me about a 20hp boost.as much as 23 but not this time since i was lean.that big tire on a friends turbo busa took about 40hp out of it on the kit he installed. they dynoed it then installed the kit and redynoed it. hope you feel better soon.

I have a 1287 Ace ZX-12R motor, and a 14. The 12R is making a lot of hp, but my 14 is light and pretty darn strong.
With basic setups, the 12R feels more raw...but the 14 has a lot of low rpm punch.

on a normal dyno 181 dj250 this time too lean and on a dyno that can load the engine to map all tp positions and rpm blocks it pulled 171 still too lean at 13.8 to 1. i did the too lean setup because i have a dobeck tuner that i can add fuel to the top end with a screwdriver any amount i want starting at any rpm i need up to around 9 or 10000 rpms cut in to the limiter. this way i do not need to pull out the lap top. if i get a smooth afr curve but too lean i got that covered easy as pie. i guess i must say i have a data loger i watch live to see what it is doing going down the track. so for others this will not be a safe good way.though 13.8 will not burn up a bike at a 1/4 mile unless you spray it and way too lean for a turbo or blower. do not use my numbers unless you know what you are doing. i bet some here will think i am going to burn a piston at 13.8 so just be carefull.
shanes 14 has a hell of a lot of low end for great numbers in the 1/4 i agree my 12 feels like a old big block car high strung compared to a new smoother injected car with the same power. just bad ass raw though the new ones are as fast or quicker (big nod to shane) though they are much bigger cc wise.
