Grip change

Been finally doing the "winter" maintenance to my ZX12. I'm 2/3 to done, still need to change front tire and fork oils + seals. After I bought another 12 last end of summer I went with a little bit more maintenance as usual: Tires (Pilot Road 2 120/70 and 190/55); open, clean and lubricate rear linkage; added spacer to the shock to raise the rear a little; new plugs; new K&N:s; new oils and filter; new grips (old were quite hardened). So I have removed the old grips and I'm about to put new ones in. Throttle grip is easy as I got the OEM grips and it has the whole throtle grip assy so no need to put the new grip over the bar. But what about the clutch side? Do You have any pointers? Spit, water, soap? Or just use brut force method?

I used compressed air and anerobic(sp) sealer.
I had to make an adapter with a ball to seal against the end of the grip....the air will balloon the
grip when you begin to force it on to the bar.....provided the air has no other means of escape.
Make sense?

A lot of people do not have "Compressed Air" of need to make a change out on the road or do not want to Cut the grip! I take Brake cleaner with the Straw and a long thin Screwdriver. I push the screw driver up the side of the grip and spray the cleaner (Have a tower or paper towels under where you are working) spray the cleaner and then start to push the screw driver around the handle bar as you spray. WHen all of the way around, it comes off and leaves some of the glue on the bar.

Spray the new grip with Brake cleaner and push on the new grip and adjust in place an hour or so later when everything has dried out it will be difficult to rotate the new grip and you are DONE!

Thanks Vincent that worked like charm. Went in easy and spent most of the 60 seconds just to make sure that the grip is in straight. Now still have to change front tire, forkoils + seals and lubricate steering stem... Thankfully weather was today close to freezing here and it gave even some snow, so no hurry to get on the road...
