What is the best sprokets to use once the 1270 has been installed?is the 17/46 non tameable?i like the 17 fr.tooth, should i go down to a 45 in the back from a 46.?
i'm not looking to do 200 m.p.h,though i'd like to hit into the 190's.i being a heavy rider need and like the bottom end.as of now my bike gps's at 184 m.p.h with the 17/46 and the tach hits the rev.limiter in 6th.

Hell, if you want 190s, go back to stock 18/46. That's gonna give you about a 194mph top end.

I went 192.5 on a stock motor 12 w/pipe only, thats in the standing start one mile using stock gearing 18/46. The 1270 isn't going to make that much difference, so start with stock gearing and step down a tooth at a time in the rear until you're happy. I'm running 18/43 on my bike now, best trap at maxton on motor 202.593, 204.722 on spray using that gearing in the standing-start one mile.

I've run 18/43 before, really mellows the bike out on the launch. Top gear feels like warp drive tho, the bike just pulls and pulls...

When my 12 had a stock engine w/ Force pipe and PCIII, it went 195.8 mph w/stock gearing. Did not hit rev. limiter at that point.
Now that I also have the 1270 kit.....I would be Interested to see how it would run on top w/ stock gearing. The Dyno speedo registered 197.8 mph when the limiter kicked in during mapping.
My actual speeds were verified by "Cycle World" mag's Radar Gun and a GPS we had on board to back up the gun. Note: the gun was only off by .1 mph to the low side.

On the dyno, my stock engine with BMC race filter & full AkRA hit the rev limiter @ 194 mph.

194 on the dyno and 192.5 for real by Bergie. I'd say stock gear is pretty much 192 to 194 based on tire ht. and wheel spin!

so what happened to that claim, that the 00's outa the box only needed:the mirrors removed, the muzzy full system on and bam 199 m.p.h.?
what else was done to the bike?i thought kawi or muzzy wrote it?i read it at the dealer selling the 00's some time ago.who was talking with the forked tongue?or who wrote it?
going down 1 tooth up front made me loose about 10 m.p.h?i only get 184 gps'd with the 17/46.how much will i get in m.p.h loosing a tooth in the rear?4-6m.p.h?

That 199 mph was achived w/ An excellent driver aboard.
Wheel-Spin is a major factor....even on the dyno.

Do the math, the bike can't do more than 194 with stock gearing.

Yeah!...That's why mine did 195.8 out here in the desert w/ STOCK gearing and I never hit the limiter in top gear.
Like I said.....This was verified by two means of measurement.
Time to redo your math.

This is really something!! I didn't realize ZX-12Rs had that much top end rush (I knew they were fast, but Jeeeez). What should I expect with a 1361, full Muzzy and PCIII? I'm not going to touch the gearing. The horsepower should be near 210 at the wheel.
