Shocks & Suspension
From everything I've read and researched, Ohlins is the best, yet extremely exspensive. I've also read that Penske has made considerable ground over the years, and pretty much now as good as Ohlins without the high price.
Opinions please?
How will they improve my everyday riding, if I do not race?

Penske is the most expensive of the shocks. Ohlins, then Fox.
As foe improvement I can only say that having your forks revalved and set up for your weight and riding style and the same for the rear shock will make a remarkable improvement in your riding even on the street. You will be amazed. I do this same stuff on my Goldwings.
All the horsepower in the world is useless if you can put it on the ground and control it.

So if Penske is the most exspensive, are they the best? If not, who is?
I know Fox is good for Honda, what is considered good for Kawi?

It is debateable. Penske builds car shocks. He learned a ton of what he knows from going to all of the motorcycle suspension people. That said they (Penske) make a great shock. Ohlins is used more around the world then anyone else. Companies like Race Tech who specialize in valving (Roger Penske has gone to their tech school a number of times) doesn't make valving for Ohlins. They service them and praise them.
You can't really go wrong choosing the Ohlins or Penske. I like the Ohlins personally, and I like the remote preload adjuster available for the 12.

Besides around town, do you see differences when out riding at faster speeds?
I read somewhere that the steering dampener helps at the higher speeds, makes the 12 feel more planted, but makes you realize how bad your shocks and suspension really are. Is this true?

The improvemnt is all over the board. High speed bumps, bumps in the turns etc. I would do the suspension before the damper.
