kz, you have to be one of the most knowledgable and helpful guys on this site, thanks again for the info! but the real question is. i bought the muzzy basket only w/ the rivets, and the complete inner hub kit. spent $739 and i want to use my barnett kevlar clutch kit also but some of the frictions where damaged when the stocker blew, so i want to alternate them with the muzzy frics and use both steels and springs. or should i use all 6 of the barnett springs and remove the 2 washers from the hub, you know, the ones that cause the clutch to chatter if a aftermarket friction stak is used. i have already removed them the last time it blew and it worked great. no chatter or hard clutch problem.

i would not use kevlar frictions, even if they were free and oem was 500 a pack. use as many oem or muzzy(same as oem) frictions as you can. the steels dont matter, but i prefer the 2.0 muzzy steels(they can take more abuse if you dont have a pro clutch hand). be careful on stack height if you use them. also just incase you dont know, steels only go one way, the rounded edge going IN to prevent binding. i doubt you would need more than 4 heavy duty springs with 2 stockers. a lot of guys running nitrous go 3 n 3.(just ballance the springs out, dont put the stock on one side and heavy on the other, mix them evenly). theres mixed opinions on the anti chatter rings. (the washers that go at the base of the hub with the "skinny" fiber). i have personally had no problems with using them in my bike, even with the big bore and custom wet nitrous setup, but dads bike(1287) broke the skinny fiber with no power adders. from what i have gathered, excess heat, a hard chirp from a burnout allong with a bad hub can break it. stock power levels and or just a properly working clutch with nothing binding, keep the anti chatter rings. Nox will tell you to keep them, other guys say get rid of them and go all big fibers.... your call

The newer gear Muzzy is talking about is from an OEM basket 2002-2005...2000-2005 ZX12 clutch parts are all the same...you can use the 2000 gear if you really need to, the difference is the amount of springs on the gear...The 2002-2005 gear is better balanced...
What are you using your 12 for Street riding, DragRacing or both???
How much you weigh and do you have a stock motor???
Stay away from the kevlar friction plates, kevlar is used to make bullet proof vests...I dont know why they would use kevlar to make clutch friction plates since the kevlar resists metal, but when the friction wears away it gets mixed into the oil flowing throughout the motor, which is not good...

has anyone mounted the muzzy billet basket to a model 2000 gear and what were the results, what about the spacing of the rivets, they are the same and same size?

I used a 2000 gear on a Falicon billet basket on my 2002 for about 30 passes and was not able to tell any difference and had no problems...
I had Falicon put the gear on...It needs to be welded, they know whats needed to put it together the right way!!!
Muzzy and Falicon are the same basket, just different color, if you have a black one...

Don't use kevlar.
Use stock frictions.
Thats gospel.

ahh, allready in a diff album...

DO NOT copy the flat oil pan unless you go with a dry sump setup. its too shallow, and we are adding a deeper section to it, the other one is doing great tho...

gear looks like it will work but there is a gap betwwen the plate and spacers that are on the muzzys basket. 1/16 in or less or 1mm or so, do i clamp the plate down and squeeze out this gap or is it ok. i want the plate to sit flush on the spacers, my instinct is to clamp it down.

I forget why muzzy wants that late model gear., something to do with the jig or something.........
basically, the springs have to be like those in scotts photo, there should be 3 pairs of springs on the back........., thats all I know, I had to have a gear replaced on my basket when I tossed the motor

i think its just that the springs are different Nox. dont rattle as much or something minor. I was talking to a guy at Falicon when i bought the Muzzy basket kit for dads bike, they said theres really no difference in the gear cores, they take both, as do MTC i believe.
the springs have to be in the correct spot too. i believe there are 6 different sizes so they cant get mixed up and out of ballance
