Adjusting front & rear suspnsion on ZX12r

Hey everyone, new to the forum and my 2001 ZX12. I bought about a month ago for $5500.00 with 5300kms, bike is mint and runs very strong. I've been out of the saddle for appx 15 yrs and used to ride an OLD school 1978 GS 1000E. The bike did not come with a manual and I do not know how to adjust or set the suspension dampening. Also any newbie info I should know would be appreciated. Oh ya, this bike is a complete monter and I love it !!!!!!!! Any recommendations on tires?

There is rebound adjusting for fron fork on the top of the tube. Compression is maybe 10cm from bottom facing backwards. Preload are those 17 "bolts" on the topof the fork. You should really get the oils changed in the forks, because probably it hasn't been serviced in near history (if ever). Really makes a difference to have new oils in. In the rear there is rebound adjuster on the bottom of the shock, on the left (gear lever) side. Compression is also on left on the top of the shock in the piggybag gas-reservoir. (If I remember right it says comp or C near with + and - marks). Preload is adjusted with special spanner. Get a real copy of serveice manual or at least load the pdf-version that is floating on internet. There are links to it somewhere on this forum.

My adjustments are as follows:

Front rebound: fully in
Front compression: 4-5 clicks from fully in
Front preload: 4-5 lines showing

Rear rebound: 1 click from fully in
Rear compression: 6-7 clicks from fully in
Rear preload: adjust sag to about 30-35mm

It would also be wise to get the rear shock serviced with new oils and gas and add a little plate on the top of the rear shock to raise the rear a little (maybe 4-5mm plate). That will make the bike turn easier.
