Mark the location of the bracket, lift the tank up and pull the air cleaners. drill the two holes and use an air nozzle to blow any slag out of the snorkel(s). I find it helpful to stick duct tape in/below the area you are drilling to catch stuff as well. The hardest part ios lifting the tank! Then install the bracket with the two bolts provided. If you are a big guy with big forearms you may ask you wife or girl friend to start the two nuts as it is a tight fit. Then put the airfilters back in, drop the tank and reinstall the tanl cover etc. The Then remove the crown nut and install the new one provided with the kit. Install the dampner as directed and you are done. It is a 30 minute job only because you have to lift the tank.

It's easy and a kick ass dampner. Read the direction about adjustments. You have both a high and alow speed adjustment. Too much of one effects the other. They usually ship them pretty spot on for adjustment.

When reaching into the airbox i used the box end of a combination wrench with some black tape on the underside to hold the nut.Make triple sure you are drilling in the right spot.

Mount the damper on the tripple clamp to establ the spot to install the bracket that you drill the two holes for. It is easy. And cowboys tip on the wrench is agood one.

I used a long needle nose vice grip to hold the nuts with the washers glued to em. Only problem with the damper was it started to leak fluid around an adjusting knob. A phone call to Scotts and it was fixed and returned within a week. Pretty good service I thought.

If you don't use the vaseline, you might find your arm stuck and somebody sneaking up from behind you with vaseline!

You don't need to use the bolts if you "tap" the holes. I tapped mine 2 years ago, added some locktite,,,, NOOOOOO problems!!! There is an entire thread on that!!!!! Someone else posted the procedure.

Voz, there is a thread about every and anything usually to detail if you just take the time to look.

According to Scott's, their damper will not fit the 02 as I phoned them........(i wanted one badly)something to do with the fact the tank is too close compared to previous model years. I opted for the Muzzy one : )
