Hows business in your area?.....jobs?
seems like in some areas of the Country things are going along pretty good, others are suffering.
In our town the Banks are lending like crazy on new purchases as well as refinance deals. New commercial construction is movin right along also.
As the owner of a c-store in our small town I see and talk MANY people daily...quite a few of them feel its slow right now. Sept has been a slow month, bring on Oct.

Seems pretty slow. Couple of OLD businesses closed down. Some of the plants running skeleton crews. Bomb-building plants pretty close to me are working 6 or 7 12 hour days. Wonder why?? hehe
BOOM on Saddam soon, maybe??

We have seen the BEST of America! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. America alleged leaders offered incentives for business to relocate to Mexico & other countries.
America leaders ruined the educational system in the name of "Political Correctness" & everyone gets a passing grade.
We are rapidly heading toward third world status. Glad I have a home in Quebec!

Hope you avoid the layoff Dave & I agree with your comment Slug. I spent 27 years with the UAW as a Benefits Rep.
I have a lot of empathy for younger people in todays world because the jobs are gone for the most part.
When I was young a person could pick his company & work his way through the ranks if he wanted to. Most degrees are worthless today. I'll take a strong back .

Eight reactors on the Big E made life pretty gravy for us nukes. But we never had an electrician cleaning our bilges. Just waited for high seas and poured some bubbly cleaner down there. Slosh, slosh.

heh. erectricians on both boats i was on (766, 735) owned parts of the bilge system of cleanliness holes. the 766 had a nice steam jenny, 450VAC heated, 2500psi
grin. made SHORT work of bilges, purifier bowls, air filters, strainers, and anything else you could think to toss in there.
id say on the bottom side of the ocean, things were a bit more complex, we got shorthanded so bad i ended up qualified to stand engineroom sup. orse was fun as a mechanic too ;P my last one (week before i got out) i stood it as a mech. one drill day, had to get the distilling plant up 4 tmes. was fun until i got some unsolicited 'help' who promptly trashed my heat balance. o well...
anyway were you on the 'e' during the 93-94 period? if so we probably walked by each other and/or flipped each other off in the yard at least once or twice....
anyway how long you been free? ;P
slugout....gotta work in the morning. this honest job stuff sux ;P

Joined the club in 1979. Left in 1988. Was staff at A school and Sea Rat at Idaho. Only did one and a half WestPacs out of a 9+ year stint. Everywhere I turned things came up gravy. Just damn lucky.
