make sure all the screws are out
I have to keep telling dad when we work on the bikes. "this isnt a piece of heavy equipment, be careful. yes the 1/4 drive ratchet will make it tight enough "

When I replaced my Lights all I had to do was tear off the windscreen and reach down in there to pull them out. Fairly easy. And the Plugs were easier using the tools that came in the kit. Put iriduim plugs in there. They are a ton better than the regular CR9e. Your from Tennessee huh? I'm only a couple hours away. I'm planning on making a trip up to US129 in a couple months.

yeah, its pretty easy. its better to go ahead to learn it now. that way you dont have to wait for someone else to do it for you! if you have the toolkit with that special spark plug wrench in there it should be a piece of cake. i think i took the gas tank cover off the first time and the air duct covers off, then disconnect every thing from the left side of the bike and move them from the side, then do the right side the same way(when your done, make sure you hook everything back up the way it was unhooked. especially the fan. should be easy cuz the connectors are all different, so you shouldnt mess it up) then all you got to do is take the coil wires loose(4 of them, they have little push tabs on them...simple, just make sure the 4 little orange gaskets dont get lost, they stay on pretty good, so you shouldnt have to worry about that..but just keep an eye out), pull them to the left side and out of the way. then pull the rubber mat out! then you got it. just pull the coil sticks out. PULL UP ON THEM UP! REAL HARD UNTIL YOU HEAR THEM COME LOOSE(just like spark plug boots on a car plug). then just wiggle them out. they have little rubber ends on them so they wont break when you try to pull them out (but make sure you get them out all the way up! you can turn them out!) its not so hard once you get your hands in there! you'll see. OH! and it helps a ton if you got the rear tire on a stand so the bike is straight up on both sides! in all honesty your plugs and valves are probably good! but it is still good to know! hope that helps you a little!

Dude, why are you replacing the plugs @ 8K (if I didn't misunderstand).
You are wasting your time and money if so.

once you find a set email me and we can get you some graphic photos i have of mine and get er done,, hiding the balasts is the hardest issue,, if you get a set with slim balasts you will be in good shape,, let me know if i can help!

you will notice in the center of the pic above there is a plug that is to be connected to 2 bare wires,, dont ask me why there wasent a plug on the other end,, i tried to find a matching plug,, but wound up cutting the plug off and splicing the wires and shrink wrapping,, relays are under the gas tank cover drilled into the top of the frame,, the power leads go one on each side of the frame to the battery,, the ballast are wire tied on top of the air intake tubes under the ram air covers.. a little time to do the install,, but well worth the extra light,, lights up the world! BTW the photo above is for ONE light,, you will need double of the setup above.
