Going to get a 02 ZX-12

I'm going to buy a 2002 blue ZX-12 next week. I owned a 92 ZX-11 and own a 97 Blackbird and just miss the torque and brute power of the Kawasaki. Is there any warnings or things to worry about on the 02? How much is a fair out the door price 0 milage new? So far I have decided to go with a Muzzy titiamium pipe and header, the power commander 3r, the bonneville box, reed block off plates, and a corbin seat. Any advice would be appriciated. jp

The dealer cost is $8699 for a 2002. I see dealers discounting them to $9500 pretty easily.
Ive got a few other leads Im working on right now.

i would recommend that you find a good plastic surgeon to remove the deep laugh lines that you will quickly develop when you continually crush busas. its a joke and a funny one at that.

Thanks kaw man but I only buy new bikes. Too much unseen damage can be done ie poor break-in, missing gears, over revving ect... My first bike a 85 ninja was used and supposedly in great shape with 7,000 miles. It was in great shape after I rebuilt the motor and tranny. The guy did a oil change every 3,000 miles with straight 50 wt. oil. He just couldn't understand why I was so upset with him. He had a harley and said bikes only get 10,000 before a rebuild. anyways I have only bought new since. Why do you want to sell it after putting that much into a new bike. How much do you wan't and where do you live I may know someone who would want it. Thanks Jason that is the plan. I hang with most now I have only lost to 1 so far he had a bore kit and head work done. My 97xx has a erion pipe and header, carb work, head work, tranny work, ignition work, and a mild stroke and cam. Moodyblue I agree about kawasaki forever. I bought the xx when they were the top dog. I just never could get used to the smooth lazy feel of the bike and every other honda I've ridden. Do the 02s have the rgaphics or are they the plain blue. I have looked everywhere and if I only believed what I saw blue dosen't exist in the U.S.

But b4 i go to them i wanna do all my performance mods.. so they can map it as such.... What mods do u have?

JP, FWIW nowadays really the only thing that could be "catastrophic" for a used bike buyer is a bike with a *salvage* title.
Im seeing more and more bikes, especially Busas and GSXRs being bought at auctions for $2-4k and then fixed up and sold like near new for $8-9k.
Things Im always suspecious of are polished frames, wheels, missing parts, no stock exhaust, etc.
Ive learned that the way people conduct themselves, is the way they maintain their bikes.
When you start reading an ad that says "too fast for me" or something stupid like that, you know to steer clear. Usually the ones that hook me, have the least description and a low price. Those usually end up being the gems.
The guy that just bought my 2000 was thrilled to death and I didnt do much talking, just let the bike sell itself.
I ended getting enough to cover the cost of a new bike.
Ive eye balled a few used 12s, and really it comes down to choice. I could buy a nice used one for about $9k with some of the accessories I would have purchased (pipe, pc , etc) or a new one for alittle more.
Being that its still new, you can purchase an extended warranty.
