I have found that two guys and a floor jack work fine. I like to lay a piece of cardboard down to set the engine on and then youi can pull the engine out from under the bike. the engine is bad for balance, but because of the shape of the pan you will have to lay it on it's nose on the bench or shim it with wood.

Swft and I have both individually picked the engine up off of the Handy bike lift and carried it over to the work bench. It is a obviously not the lightest engine out there!

I plan something a "Little" Different! I am going to buy a Transmission dolly form Harbor Freight! It has 4 wheels and a cradle that is adjustable and for around $70 you need no on else!

It even has a Strap to help hold it in place!

Take the pan off first, then it will balance with a piece of wood. I disassemble the sides of the motor while it is still in the frame. Makes the motor much lighter to handle too.

Good idea Vincent!!!

aliveagain, I have a cradle made for the zx-12R engine. It sits on a floor jack and makes removing the engine a one man snap.

I can give you dimensions so you can duplicate it. It takes about 20 minutes to build.

This is all there is too it.

I recomend screwing and clueing it together.

It also doubles as a chassis alignment jig. Its marked off within a 1/16" to align the tracking of the front wheel to the rear.

The silver lines are where the string is run and secured and weight is placed in the jig.
